Re: Jude Bellingham
I think he probably is. Early days at Real but right now he's consistently outstanding at the highest level. The Mindsweep wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 10:12 am Is he the best player in the world atm?

Re: Jude Bellingham
He’s got everything. There’s something about the way he plays that’s like he’s enthusiastically helping out with something he finds enjoyable. Brilliant player.

Re: Jude Bellingham
Don't worry, Southgate or the media will find a way to blunt him. At the moment he's razor sharp.

Re: Jude Bellingham
Absolutely ripping it up at Real, a club where the pressure and expectation is unreal.
It’s immensely impressive considering his age. Has the potential to have a legendary career.

Re: Jude Bellingham
Hasn't he actually been quite good for England? And how will Southgate or the British media affect his performances under Carlo Ancelotti in La Liga?LittleMate wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 11:22 am Don't worry, Southgate or the media will find a way to blunt him. At the moment he's razor sharp.

Re: Jude Bellingham
He's always been one of the better players on the pitch when he's played for England, IMO. There's something about him that makes me think he has potential way above and beyond most players that occasionally get hyped as the next great hope.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 12:15 pmHasn't he actually been quite good for England? Re: Jude Bellingham
such maturity - hope he stays injury free
interesting question - what make a professional footballer one of the elite? How important is temperament in the modern game?

Re: Jude Bellingham
I agree mate however it’s good to see an English talent get praised actually when looking at the whole squad we have a wealth of good players and we should have picked up a tittle by now,but there’s only one thing stopping us unfortunatelyLittleMate wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 11:22 am Don't worry, Southgate or the media will find a way to blunt him. Re: Jude Bellingham
We've had very few genuinely world class players over the past decade but Bellingham, Kane, Walker and arguably Saka, Stones, James ,(when fit) and Rice fall into that category. Problem remains the lack of genuinely top quality deeper lying midfielders to dictate games, which is why Phillips is still getting called up, and centre backs.
Have always been a Southgate fan but am finding his refusal to drop Henderson and Maguire baffling. Even accepting they play in our weakest positions, they should be nowhere near the team.

Re: Jude Bellingham
Hard to disagree and I think that the penny is dropping with Southgate. Without them we are more fluid.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 9:54 am We've had very few genuinely world class players over the past decade but Bellingham, Kane, Walker and arguably Saka, Stones, James ,(when fit) and Rice fall into that category. I can see why he's been loyal. Neither have ever let us down and have been mainstays of the team for a while. Its just that their time has come - certainly when it comes to the starting 11. I can imagine both having roles to play next summer depending on our circumstances.

Re: Jude Bellingham
Feel for Maguire as he's done nothing to deserve the level of flack that he gets, but our starting centre back shouldn't be a guy who's 5th choice at any club. Tomori, Guehi, Dunk, Colwill and White are all clearly better options.
There was a good article in the guardian the other day about how playing Maguire forces the England midfield to not press well because the defence has to play quite low to account for Maguire's lack of pace and mobility. I get the idea that he's good in the air and a set piece threat but we have the players to dominate games now and shouldn't be playing to accommodate the weaknesses of a solid but limited defender.

Re: Jude Bellingham
I think Graeme Souness hit the nail on the head when he said England play with the handbrake on when Southgates in charge

I thought exactly the same and as you wrote ''Graeme Souness hit the nail on the head''Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 11:24 am I think Graeme Souness hit the nail on the head when he said England play with the handbrake on when Southgates in charge
Leaving aside the debate on Maguire, what a player this Lewis Dunk is and with him to call on, well who needs Harry Maguire !
Same question can be asked as to why with the many talented midfielders Southgate has at his disposal, why does he keeps clinging onto Jordan Henderson ?
