Don't see why cats get away scott free on the sh!t front though. Most dog owners pick up as they should whereas the moggies are allowed to wander about and crap everywhere and noone says a word. Ridiculous.
I agree with what you say about people who have a blanket dislike of dogs. I find people who lack compassion about dogs have a disturbing attitude about people. I try not to kill any creature however small , especially insects. Most evil murderers who have treated their victims appallingly have a history of I’ll treating sadistically, animals in their progression to committing their first killing.
Anyone with a trace of compassion has to own a dog to understand the bond they naturally have with humans. They are like a child. Dogs give unconditional love.

Re: Dog watch
I love dogs, but have chosen not to have one as I enjoy my freedom too much. I've also noticed a growing sense of entitlement from dog owners in public spaces.
Instead we got a cat. They're great. And, if you don't feel like cleaning up after them, you can just let them crap in the neighbour's garden.

I have a dog even though I don't really like them and despise the one we have. Still, 7 years in so not too long to go now.

My parents bought dog licences. They were stopped in 1988. Started in 1867, but the cost of admin was one of the reasons for stopping, the other was that only about 50% got a licence.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 5:41 pm Mainly agree with you. When I feel exasperated with the yanks and they’re inability to accept why they should be banned I think that it’s the equivalent of what brits would be like if there was talk of a ban on dogs.
At a minimum you should have to have a licence for both

Re: Dog watch
Got into a fight with a cat last night. f*cker bit me right through my leather shoe.
It has been hanging around intimidating my old moggie, Bonnie Prince Charlie or Charlie for short. Yesterday they were cartoon cat fighting on the front lawn. You know the one where they spin like a ball in mid air locked onto each other with chunks of fur flying about everywhere.
I went out and stopped it but the aggressor cat stood its ground and spat and hissed at me. I briefly considered booting it into the middle of next week but decided not to as the neighbours might think I'm a psychopath.
In the brief standoff the cat launched itself at my foot and bit me and it was at that point I booted it and it bounced off my car bumper and ran under my car for safety.
It was a fluffy kind of beige cat with a dark face. Does anyone know if they are on the dangerous cats list?

I do not have a clue what you mean. I understand the pleasures of fishing and never tried it. There is obviously a huge following for this activity.Type high wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 9:07 amLoin Cloth Lenny wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 3:22 amProposition Joe wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 7:40 pm Anyone who has a blanket dislike of dogs should be on a Government watchlist but do agree with some of the comments, particularly regarding dog mess being left (absolutely infuriating) and off lead dogs not being trained. Re: Dog watch
I got a struggling sales rep who has worked for me. His wife ends up getting a job now the kids are off their hands and works at a pet rescue centre. She ends up bringing home 2 rescue greyhounds over the course of 9 months. The pet insurance is £400 per month!Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 11:23 pm Agree about dogs being restrictive though. Bloody nightmare sorting out holidays or time away if they can't come with, especially with two bigger ones.
One of the pair puts his foreleg down a rabbit hole and breaks the bone. Heartache - but its covered by the insurance. Complications ensue and the medical bill escaltes to £14k. The insurance only covers up to £9k so he takes out a loan to cover the balance. The skin over the leg will not heal. A second loan for a further £5k. If this greyhound had been a champion in its day it would not have won £19k! THIS IS A BLOODY RESCUE DOG! They have had it 2 years.
Such is the soft loving nature of the pet fraternity that a family friends son, straight out of uni, has developed some sort of tracking app thats perfect for pets. He started it as a hobby but such has been the uptake that he's turned it into his full time occupation.

Re: Dog watch
If people feel so strongly that they must have a dog, then there should be a height and weight restriction for the animal. If an aggressive Yorkie runs towards me yapping, I doesnt worry me at all as I know who will come off worst in that fight. Being confronted by a snarling 10 stone devil dog is truly frightening. I read that 10 people were killed by dogs in the UK last year as well as thousands injured. Remember the fuss a few years back when a fox supposedly nipped a kid's foot or something, yet no one seems to care about dogs actually killing people. There will always be tens of thousands of irresponsible dog owners in this country, so any dog that is over 6 inches tall should be euthanized and we can all feel safe and we wouldn't have this nonsense about determining what actual breed it is.

Well our Government is responsible for 10's of thousands of deaths so can we (please) euthanise them firstCeltient wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 2:51 pm If people feel so strongly that they must have a dog, then there should be a height and weight restriction for the animal. Plus it's not a dogs fault that you're scared of it. When walking our dopey as f**k dog a while back an excited child wanted to stroke him but we said no - we'd never take any risks despite knowing our dogs temperament. Mother of child is heard to say "stay away, it'll rip your face off". Faced with that level of stupid it's hardly surprising that some kids grow up fearing dogs.
