Well in life take nothing for granted or as the old saying goes ''don't count your chickens before they hatch''
Nowadays with all this money flying around, perhaps Alzate has been given advice by his agent that he would be better off financially to let his contract expire and negotiate a new contract next season with what ever club comes along and look at the number of players now chasing the big money by going over to play in Saudi Arabia !

I think, especially being as he is young, single,fit and talented, Alzate is looking out for himself and listening to his agent as to how to get the best deal financially for the years ahead. Different all together to less talented and older players who are very pleased to get a job offer from another football club when their current contract comes to an end.

I know people don't like this take because of the whole "family club thing" but personally see no value in that side of it. For what it costs the monetary isn't great and when you can loan the likes of El Miz, Forde, Turns etc. from elsewhere it begs the question if it's viable when Travis is complaining about sustainability.

Not often that Os get a big money pay off from original fees and add on's from young players being transferred as would have been the case if Steven Alzate had of been sold on by Brighton. Well I have no idea as to the balance sheet of the academy as to if it makes a profit or loss for the club, have you any idea other than an educated guess ?

Based on Travis and Teague both saying on the AGM Q&A sessions their aim was to get it to break even over a 10-year period it's loss-making

People are free to spend their hard earned , wherever they want.

As I’ve posted elsewhere, the club have now reduced the cost of hospitality in the restaurant with a “3 for 2 offer” for the next three home games. I think they made a mistake putting the price up as they did and basically priced many fans out and encouraged them to spend their money on pre-match food elsewhere.
I would rather give my money to Orient but not at any cost.

From Brighton's point of view better to get £4m than worrying about paying 20% to us. Random moves as you allude can not happen now. THe FA look at all fees to check on stuff like this Brighton lost more money on this deal than us
