Re: Shambles
Panicked into losing the ball and physically bullied today by sounds of it, when do we play a "nice" team like Cambridge next?

Re: Shambles
Not a good performance but no need to go overboard. We always struggle against this type of team and as much as I rate Richie he messed up the team selection and was put thought by Evans.

Re: Shambles
Four games time, when ten games played is the real yardstick but 50% of games conceded three, one win, failed to scored in four games

Re: Shambles
Obviously expected us to dominate the ball like we did against Cambridge so could negate the physical advantage but Stevenage didn't give us a second on the ball. I'm more worried about how poor we were with the ball than the fact that we got bullied physically. You can find ways of counteracting the latter, but if you're entire playing style is based around keeping and using possession well, and you can barely string a pass together if harried, then it could get grim.

Re: Shambles
Vigoroux = Brynn (being a tad generous but early signs look good)
Turns = Ogie (at the very least, Ogie not ready for L1)
Smyth ? Agyei (not sure if we'll get a chance to find out this season)
Sanders > Clay (couldn't have Clay in L1)
Graham > Georgiou (not exactly difficult to improve there)
Galbraith > Duke-McKenna (Galbraith looks a real talent)
Pigott = Smith (Pigott shown nothing so far but not a dressing room disruptor so that's a plus)
Forde > Wareham (faster and stronger)
Howes = Sargeant (both squad / cup game filler, no real challenge to the #1 keeper)
The problem is still that we're effectively a senior pro attacker down due to injury and we were one short there last year so it hasn't been improved. Seems they've ran out of budget so it remains unresolved.

How can Turns be a replacement for Ogie when both were here last season? If anything the new Swansea bloke is Ogies replacement.gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 5:44 pmVigoroux = Brynn (being a tad generous but early signs look good)

Re: Shambles
I don't think being one attacker short is the problem when we're leaking goals and having our entire style counteracted by being pressed. Issues run a lot deeper than that.gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 5:44 pmVigoroux = Brynn (being a tad generous but early signs look good)

Turns came in as emergency replacement for Beckles originallyThe Reverend wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 5:47 pmHow can Turns be a replacement for Ogie when both were here last season? This season we sold Ogie then brought Turns back on loan to fill his squad spot
New guy is effectively emergency replacement for the long-term injured Thompson

I see. Either way, I still think selling ogie was a mistake.gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 5:51 pmTurns came in as emergency replacement for Beckles originallyThe Reverend wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 5:47 pmHow can Turns be a replacement for Ogie when both were here last season? Re: Shambles
The issue today was we were not brave enough at the back to put the ball down and play out when pressed high by Stevenage. That falls on Brynn, Turns, Happe and Brown.
Instead we were forced to kick the ball long, and in the main opted to go to Theo up against that ex-Salford silly sausage. Obviously the ball is just going to come back at us.

You are right but frustrating to see us play like that. I normally do not but painful yesterday especially that opposition.FrankOFile wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 9:11 amOh settle down. Re: Shambles
There is still a long way to go yet but the early indications are we're going to really struggle this season . We have a good League 1 standard midfield but a weak defence and misfiring strikers .

Re: Shambles
What do fans expect, this season was always going to be difficult, the club has added 11 new players to the squad.
Looking at the team, it’s not good enough in certain areas, but it is what it is & in RW we trust
We have:
L2 Defence
L1 Midfield
L2 Attack
Just need to see how many points we can accumulate between now and Jan and see what is possible in Jan window.
Agyei will be like a new signing in Jan
As long as we can keep above the relegation line and stay out of bottom 4 and remain a L1 side next season, then It’s job done and build for next season.
