Who knows how much he is getting, I mean Burnley are not a mega rich club and could well go straight back to the Championship after just the one season in the Premier.
As to ''I thought someone on here said Vigs was getting 12.5k a week''
Yes sounds to me like a good guess, but it is after all ''Just a guess'' !!

Too many people looking at this from their own view point.

All that matters is whether Vigs is happy with the move. If he is happy to earn a shed load more money at Burnley and rarely play a game, then that is his choice. Who are we to decide he should earn less money and play more.

I'd be quite happy to have my salary increased and to have my workload greatly reduced. Most of us would be happy with that.

Steve Harper, a fine goalkeeper spent nearly all his career at Newcastle playing second fiddle to Pavel and then to Given. He could easily have moved elsewhere and played regular football, but he chose what was best for him and his family.

Fans tend to look at things through the viewpoint of a fan and forget that players are human beings and will make career choices as such and not as fans

Really, the most important issue here is how the sport can be so unequal that a team just two divisions above us can afford to pay him more than double what we offered just as a punt

Basically everybody on this thread has acknowledged that financially it makes sense for him to do it and understand why he has.

Comparing the “workload” of a professional footballer to whatever tedious desk job you presumably do is such a false equivalence its hilarious.

His 'workload' is not greatly reduced.

If anything, I'd expect those not in the first team to put in more hours as they do not need the down time between games.

Does it matter if or when he plays?

if he is happy not playing and Burnley are happy to pay him, then it matters not if he plays or not.

We all work to make a living. If Vigs is making a living and is happy not playing often, then what does it matter?

You could discuss endlessly as to why some people get vastly more money than others in so many different jobs, countries etc, but it wont change anything and never will.

Imagine comparing the “workload” of a professional footballer - a career which lasts 15 years if you’re lucky…maybe a bit more for a GK and where your progression is almost exclusively dependant on how well you perform when executing your “workload” - with some bog standard desk job.

It’s also nonsensical to assume that getting paid more to do less is a universally desired situation. There are plenty of people in the world who actively like their job and would either get bored or demotivated if their workload significantly decreased.

It’s one of the worst false equivalences I’ve seen on this board (and that’s really saying something).

But don't Goalies get really fat after they retire having led a sedentary life style. Desk jockeys get fat much earlier in life. That's why I'd never be a pencil pusher.

Inequality does change - even just looking at the UK over the last 100 years it has waxed and waned. And it certainly has in football - the sport is now much more unequal than it was when you were a nipper. Of course it has always been unequal, that's the point of having divisions - but the degree of inequality is what we're talking about here.

Whats the big deal about Lawrence Vigouroux ?
His contract at Leyton Orient expired at the end of last season. He was offered a new contract by the Os but instead accepted a 3 year Contract with Burnley and thats about it.....those who are annoyed about this happening, well players come and go in football, so get over it !!
