Guess it depends on the severity of the concussion. Hopefully they are cautious with him and give Sam the chance I think he deserves.

There are now guidelines set down by the EFL he has to have an assessment after he was concussed and sit out 7 days before he can resume playing.

Seems a sensible precaution. Sarge will do OK.

It’s an improvement on our history of signing players who are already injured. Progress.

Heard of that saying e.g "going on the panel" but dont know what it actually meant as I do not know of anyone who did it. I think it was a saying meaning you were off long term sick from work. From my experience, happens more in recent times than years ago when not many employers paid sick pay. Anyway, speaking for myself, I am NOT that ancient, my brain is still good especially when it comes to mental arithmetic and pub quizzes etc. Its not that long since I retired as an engineer working in a multi-national Pharma company !!

Blimey oz, you've triggered my memory cells there! Had forgotten all about that saying when going sick.

“ on the panel” was a phrase used - by my dad amongst others- to refer to time taken off work due to illness. I think it goes back to a time when in factories or nationalised industries it was common to have a “ panel” of three doctors who signed off ( or not as the case might be) longer term absences as eligible for sick pay after reviewing the case or medical records of the individual concerned.

If you were sick back in the day you received money from the government, mainly because employers never paid sick pay. But, you had to be off sick for at least 5 days before it kicked in, so in most cases it was never claimed.
Over here when I retired I got paid out all unused accumulated sickdays , Holiday leave and long service leave. How times have changed...
