Well, I really hope you heard wrong. Not good enough for League 2 never mind League 1.

Eek that's another striker who won't score, might be OK as a replacement for Sotiriou if we moved him on but not much more than thatHighwood Man wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 6:14 pmWell, I really hope you heard wrong. Not good enough for League 2 never mind League 1.

Re: Smyth & Kelman
9 goals and 3 assists for Ruel last season, he was our top attacker bar Smyth but, yeah, let's move him on because we now have Pigott etc.gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 7:00 pmEek that's another striker who won't score, might be OK as a replacement for Sotiriou if we moved him on but not much more than thatHighwood Man wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 6:14 pmWell, I really hope you heard wrong. Re: Smyth & Kelman
Kelman didn't feature today (after starting last week and being hooked after 45 mins).
I really hope that's because QPR have realised he's nowhere near a Championship standard player, not because he's coming here...

Re: Smyth & Kelman
Agree if RW thinks Kelman is the answer then we are def in trouble, RE said in his interview we need a No9 with pace to get in behind oppositions defences, how is that Kelman?

Re: Smyth & Kelman
Errr I think if we were offered Smyth on loan, we would take him back with no hesitation.
Like it or not, now he is not in the team, we can see how much we miss him & how much we relied on him as an outlet, when he was in the team.

Re: Smyth & Kelman
Of course, Smyth was our stand out forward last season, so many immature comments on this forum regarding him, he moved on to try to better himself, end of.

Re: Smyth & Kelman
I thought Richie said we needed somebody with pace Kelman isn’t particularly quick. Great assist by Smyth yesterday for QPR. Looks like we’re already missing him . This is what I feared

Re: Smyth & Kelman
Wellens said something about that they held off making a signing on Friday after Brynn's injury, wonder if that was the one

Re: Smyth & Kelman
I don’t get that, if Brynn’s injury is long term surely he goes back to Middlesbrough and we use his wages on the new keeper

Re: Smyth & Kelman
Wouldn’t be as massively against it as some are. He’s a hard working forward and you’d have hoped will have kicked on a bit from last year. He might also be a decent foil to Piggott.
Richie said in his interview yesterday we’re looking to bring in 2 forwards, so if anything he adds depth where we are severely lacking and I’m hoping the other forward is a superior option.
Finally you’ve got to consider the possibility he might not have been on our shopping list at all but the Ageyi injury forced our hand and RW wanted someone with a pre season who is already integrated into the squad.
Wouldn’t have been my first choice but I can see the rationale behind it

Re: Smyth & Kelman
Kelman will give you effort and running no doubt, though he was lacking somewhat in physical presence at L2 level so that would be the concern in L1 where players do seem that bit bigger and quicker all round
