Leyton Orient 0 - 2 Portsmouth

Unless there's some movement today the lack of striking options continues to cause problems and social media goes red hot after a third goalless game

(may edit this by end of the day if an announcement is made :D )

1-2. Portsmouth are being talked up a lot as promotion challengers and Charlton showed how big the step up in quality is between the two divisions. Hopefully people retain some perspective about what a tough start this is, but expecting a load of flack to come Ling's way.

2 2 scoreline, but ML and the transfer Committee need to solve our weakness upfront. The board will realise that being and staying in L1 will cost them more...

If we're not going to replace Dan Agyei, he was the Paul Smyth replacement, its criminal - and Ling should take slack for that. If hes back in 5 months time he's still got to get used to the league and build up fitness. It could be too late by then.

We need two attackers, not one. Drinan didn't get a run of 3 games last season, let alone 5, because of stop start injuries. Can't rely on Piggott who usually plays better in a strike partnership.

I'm also incredibly worried about the defence. Could have done with real solid experienced league 1 proven defender coming in. I know Richie really trusts the Happe/Beckles partnership, but partnership didn't actually get that many games in league 2 before Happe was ruled out for the season. Happe has a history of injuries, he is prone. TJ is poor defensively and gets easily beaten for pace/strength. Rob Hunt I would usually trust, but again will struggle against more physical players and has had a poor start to the season.

We have a league 2 defence, a league 1 midfield and a league 2 attack at the moment.

I think we'll improve, playing at home, and get our first goal. But can see us letting in a few.

Agree about Pigott. Have only seen him once but he certainly doesn't look like a lone striker up front sort of player.

Wow that’s great odds, they only need to score 1 goal and the points are in the bag, as we won’t score.

It's so sad our season is off the rails already after Dan's injury, we really needed to make a good start to do anything, now I can see us going the first 10 games without a win unless we get a decent striker.

COYO’s has a meltdown, and Wilko’s come out of administration after he buys their entire stock of nappies.
😂 just can’t see where the goals are coming from at this moment. O’s 0 Portsmouth 2😢🙊

Likewise and when is this new forward going to happen ?
I can imagine Os losing and is Happe also injured, if so is Turns fit enough to play yet ?
Its not good at all starting the new season like this with so many players already side lined with injuries. Pre season so called ''frendly'' matches have a lot to answer for. Supposed to get the team up and running for the new season and did the reverse.

Wellens himself likened Pigott’s style of play to Teddy Sheringham so you’re quite right. Hopefully he can play in a role more suited to his undoubted strengths but with Sotiriou as the only viable alternative at present I think we might have to wait a while longer before seeing him in his best light.

Good comment and going by what we have seen so far, Pigott is a good addition to the squad.
Lets be honest, a playing squad that is apart from Moncur is comprised of players who cost nothing and a few players on loan from other teams.

Hard to predict, because it depends on how good Portsmouth are. If they are as good as Charlton, they will probably win, if not, we may get something from the game
1-0 to Portsmouth is my prediction
