Re: Ed Turns
After an initial crossing of swords with Tuffers we settled down like two old grannies, paid him the compliments he needs (don't we all) and he was as good as (max) gold. I feel that having been voted boarder of the year, he felt that confrontation was the way forward.Wally Banter wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2023 5:13 pmHuh. Must just be a weird coincidence of writing style, odd punctuation, posting on every topic and enmity towards moderators. Carry on.

Re: Ed Turns
Well, we definitely need to bring in another CB. I know Jordan Brown can play there but I don't fancy us starting the new season with only two fit recognised CB'S.

Re: Ed Turns
Brighton just signed Brazilian CB Igor from Fiorentina, so that pushes Ed Turns further down the pecking order, so Ed will be a red once they return from USA tour next week
It’s good he is having a pre season tour, and hopefully some game time v Prem opposition

Re: Ed Turns
If we were to sign Ed Turns for a season long loan, who will drop out to make way for him?
Happe or Beccles?
If neither, Turns won't be happy on the bench week in week out.
Bit of a problem for RW there

Re: Ed Turns
It's more than likely Happe will not start in the first few games after his significant injury. If Turns does come back he will most likely be started before Happe.

Re: Ed Turns
Was he better than the 20 mins of the previous match where he really struggled? (not surprising as up against premier league opposition).

Personally I think he would like a better player against Manchester City than he would against Stevenage.Max Fowler wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 12:36 pmWas he better than the 20 mins of the previous match where he really struggled? (not surprising as up against premier league opposition).

Re: Ed Turns
I'm not so sure about that - the Brentford strikers are quicker and more powerful than anything he'll face in L1.Chelmsford Swimmer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 12:41 pmPersonally I think he would like a better player against Manchester City than he would against Stevenage.Max Fowler wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 12:36 pmWas he better than the 20 mins of the previous match where he really struggled? Re: Ed Turns
Yeah he was, the impressive way Brighton play out from the back, with defenders receiving the ball with forwards up there arse, will only make him a better player when playing for us hopefully this season in L1, he will def have more time on the ball.Max Fowler wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 12:36 pmWas he better than the 20 mins of the previous match where he really struggled? It’s so impressive how Brighton play out from the back.

You can see for yourself hereMax Fowler wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 1:01 pm Yeah I know he can control and pass a ball.
How was his defending?

Looks like he was possibly fault for both goals, like a statue for the first and not quick enough for the second.

Re: Ed Turns
Harsh, as I watched the whole game, they are just 2 clips, and yes was unlucky for the 1st goal, and for the 2nd, he was not strong enough, but let’s remember he’s a young kid learning his trade, playing against Newcastle who finished 4th in Prem, Turns has 1 season in men’s football under his belt playing for us in L2, and is not a Prem player yet, but as a player this experience he is getting in , will only make him a better player, and will hopefully benefit us, if/when he joins us on season loan this season.

Re: Ed Turns
His physicality does worry me a little he’s not the biggest of CB’s but he is good on the ball and reads the game well for his age. I think he could possibly play as a holding midfielder however I think he will be tested this coming season if he signs for us

I would be happy with any CB pairing, week in week out from Beckles, Happe & TurnsComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 11:39 am If we were to sign Ed Turns for a season long loan, who will drop out to make way for him?

Re: Ed Turns
Unusual to get a loan signing in who already knows the players bar the keeper, a rare gift

Re: Ed Turns
Possibly? Come on, no question about it. He's also lucky that bloke skied the header over the bar otherwise he'd have been responsible for 3 goals in 30 minutes. The Voice of Reason wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 1:16 pmYou can see for yourself hereMax Fowler wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 1:01 pm Yeah I know he can control and pass a ball.

He's nowhere near Premier League standard, nor is he ever going to be. Admittedly, that's not really an issue for us, the question is whether he's good enough to be a L1 defender and for me, the answer - right now - is still the same, it's a no.

Re: Ed Turns
If he does come here, he will get knocked all over the place in L1 and cost us a barrel load of goals. From a defensive perspective, I would rather have Shad Ogie back there, no question.Stan1972 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 1:33 pm Harsh, as I watched the whole game, they are just 2 clips, and yes was unlucky for the 1st goal, and for the 2nd, he was not strong enough, but let’s remember he’s a young kid learning his trade, playing against Newcastle who finished 4th in Prem, Turns has 1 season in men’s football under his belt playing for us in L2, and is not a Prem player yet, but as a player this experience he is getting in , will only make him a better player, and will hopefully benefit us, if/when he joins us on season loan this season.
Can play football out from the back nicely though, so it's not all bad.
