Re: El miz
Looking at Idris's history he's been out on loan at Cambridge and Grimsby but I think he progressed more with us last season then he's done before . I think you're right about that being thanks to Richie

Re: El miz
Well done the team for getting El Miz back. Sounds like this is where he wants to be - easy decision.

Re: El miz
Brilliant news.
Said to my (Posh supporting) son, who didnβt want Ipswich to go up, that from my perspective the only chance we had of getting El Miz back was if they did go up.
According to rumours we werenβt the fancied team to get him either, after it was announced that he was going out on loan again, but that is testimony to Wellens β and canβt ignore Ling either β and the fact Ipswich clearly must trust us with his development.

Re: El miz
Didn't they have that this year too? Depth looks enough that we could cover it temporarily if we had to go looking for a replacement in JanSnowyash wrote: βWed Jul 05, 2023 8:38 pm Gunna rain on the parade slightly, Ipswich announcement states they have a January recall option

Re: El miz
They did have a recall last year.
If he's bossing it in L1 and they're in relegation trouble or struggling with injuries then yeah, there's a risk. But lets worry about that next year.

Smyth can be replaced more easily I think. Goals scored 10 and only one after Xmas. The key was defence tight as a nats ar*e.essexfootball wrote: βWed Jul 05, 2023 7:18 pm Most important signing by miles, on last years starting eleven then, essentially just Vigs who was a good goal keeper but there plenty of them about that can do a job, Smyth is harder as he added goals, class and a nightmare for defenders, it's getting a player who can do all that but with the end product like him

Re: El miz
I agree Frogger, defence again will be key, thatβs why we need Ed Turns back on loan for the season.
I would be happy with 2 from 3 every game from Beckles, Happe and Turns.
Ogie can be 4th choice & Thompson can go out on loan, as Iβm not a fan, just my personal opinion.
FB - James RB & Hunt LB, both can play either & we have Sweeney to fill in at LB when needed.

We often let emotion get in the way of facts. Smyth was fantastic to watch and I wish heβd signed. But the reality is, like Richie said, we have to replace around 10 goals and say 10 assists which isnβt impossible. When you consider having a player available for every game without managing minutes will also help attain the levels we need from his replacement

Smyth occupied opposition defences because of his pace and threat and that gave others more space.
