There is no viable opposition. Only this week the Red Tories colluded with the Blue ones to remove the right to protest. At a very basic level if the Red Tories are not able to protect Civil Liberties, what are they for?

Strange comment considering GE Election
results are available to view easily ,
The last elections (since 2010) Have clearly
shown some on the Left have allowed Tory Victory .
A United Party keeps the Tories out !

Most will have plenty of equity, why should government support investment. Sell, get a more affordable property or use the profit from the sale to rent.
What mortgage holders are now experiencing has been a fact of life that the increasing amount of people who rent have been suffering with for years.

Is there any evidence for this? I would imagine lots of people have continually remortgaged and drawn down on the value of their homes, as we've been encouraged to do so ever since the 1980s.The Mindsweep wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 9:52 am

There are 20 & 30 somethings now paying mortgages of £1250 a month after recent Interest rate rises pushed the mortgage up from £900 a month . Duriing the pandemic evictions were banned the least they can do is ban repossessions & defaults , force banks & building societies to help people now .The Mindsweep wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 12:20 pmIf they have already spent their equity it still doesn't warrant the government giving them benefitsTRUMP Plumbing wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 11:12 amIs there any evidence for this? I'm not sure support should be based on previous behaviours. Yeah, they probably could do a rent freeze if they wanted to. Absolutely understand the renter's predicaments - the system is f*cked and they're getting screwed - but as with many other things, the way forward is to help them *and* those with ever increasing mortgage payments, rather than say "well we're getting stuffed so you should be too".The Mindsweep wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 2:28 pmThere are 20 & 30 somethings paying £900 renting and sharing with others.
