Re: Vigs to Burnley
Weird one. Don't blame him, huge pay increase and a shot at getting some first team games at premiership level, but really don't see him as a prem level player, even as a back up. I guess being comfortable with the ball at his feet will suit how Kompany wants his team to play.
Massive blow for us though. Hope this isn't the first of several exits, makes the re-signing of Happe Beckles and Smyth all the more important.

Re: Vigs to Burnley
If Vigs has a chance to play in the Premiership good luck to him . We'll just need to try and find another keeper .

Absolutely unproven at premier level, what manager would take a div 2 player as a fourth choice goalliMistadobalina wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 9:30 am Weird one. Wasn't Vigs at Liverpool ? Doubt he would be 4th choice . Maybe 2nd or 3rd.Type high wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 9:40 amAbsolutely unproven at premier level, what manager would take a div 2 player as a fourth choice goalliMistadobalina wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 9:30 am Weird one. He won't get a look in at that level but can't blame him for jumping at the opportunity. Trading regular football for the chance to earn some decent money and train alongside some very good players.

Obviously can’t turn that down but he is nowhere near Premier League level. Good luck to him if its true

Re: Vigs to Burnley
3rd choice EPL keeper level probably equates to starting League 1 level, but it's a role you normally associate with either a younger keeper you see as having potential or a veteran who's played at a higher level and is happy to take a back seat role towards the end of their career. Going in your prime when you want to maximise the number of games you play means you are effectively giving up on getting serious minutes in your career, at least for a few years. It's a job ultimately and 2-3 years on what, 300-500k a year, means you can retire from the game in a position of relative comfort.

He will regret that when he is older. I would give everything to be able to put the boots on again. Every aspiring footballers dream is to play professional football not sit and watch it. We have games next season against teams like Portsmouth and Derby in front of 20,000 supporters and he would probably be third choice, never to be seen again, at his physical peak, all for some more extra money.

Vigs might see it as an opportunity to force his way into Burnley's first team . Can't blame him for going if it's true . Vig's going to Charlton, then QPR and now Burnley . No smoke without fire so we'll just have to accept he's leaving . I wonder when the club will let us know .

It’s the domino effect I am worried about. One person leaves it tends to make it easier for others to do the same.

I'd expect it's a lot more than £6k per week.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 10:00 am 3rd choice EPL keeper level probably equates to starting League 1 level, but it's a role you normally associate with either a younger keeper you see as having potential or a veteran who's played at a higher level and is happy to take a back seat role towards the end of their career. He's 29. Take the big bucks for a couple of seasons, develop his game with Premier League quality coaching, then look for a move to a Championship club as a first choice on much bigger wages than he would command right now.

How do you know?
The only thing we know for certain right now is Vigs hasn't accepted our offer.

Re: Vigs to Burnley
I'm not convinced about this one - cash aside, he might never / rarely get to play in the PL. Surely a better move would be to a local Championship side - as the first choice. Even better still - O's make him a better (but still sensible) offer - and keep him at BR whilst we aim for promotion again!
