Re: WHY HAVEN'T NEW CONTRACTS BEEN SIGNED YET?
The big problem is the longer contracts are not agreed limits us to sign other players in their positions. My understanding is that players are given 28 days from when the club lists the players they want to keep or release. That day has arrived so the club has to ask players whether they want to sign or leave. I am sure that RW does not want to drag this out any longer. These offers have according to Ling been around since February and based on whether we would be in L1 or 2. The fact that 4600 supporters have now committed to buying season cards the club should issue something to explain why certain players have not agreed to sign to date.

You have just dont the thing almost everyone does, and its wrong. you associate quick buys as bad buys, and waiting longer as good buys.Chelmsford Swimmer wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 6:49 pmI expect over the years, we've signed a good player by waiting for him to become available, for example Idris, rather than rushing to sign the first player that knocks on the door. It's more important to make a good decision, rather than a quick one.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 5:46 pm It's what we do. Signings are always latish to very late, and it will never change.
I expect over the years we've lost one or two because we took too long to go for them definitely.
It's the Orient way
Buying quickly isnt bad in itself, why shoudnt people, in all walks of life, be able to make successful decisions, quickly?
In Summer 2018, we waited ages before signing two of the worst signings ever...Alabi & Gorman. They wernt rushed, we took ages over them, but they were bad signings.
Ever heard of " The early bird catches the worm" or " He who hesitates is lost"

It shouldn't be much longer then before we find out who's going or staying. Hopefully they all stay .

Regardless, we are not limited in our transfer market activity. Just as these players will be discussing potential contract offers with other clubs, I'd be amazed if we have not also been doing the same with other players. We don't have to wait until a player rejects our contract offer to start the replacement process.

Smyth strikes me as one of those guys that would have done it already if staying so just a hunch he is off. Beccles will stay but not fussed either way. Happe probably stays as well and we can thank his injury for that. Vigs, really not sure, would like him to stay but there are other good goalies about. Can’t see El Mizouni here next season. Who else is there?

For me, the order of priority is:Beradogs wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 12:37 pm Smyth strikes me as one of those guys that would have done it already if staying so just a hunch he is off. 1. Beckles
2. Happe
3 .El Miz (dont think we can afford him but hope I am wrong)
4. Vigoroux (easiest position to recruit for)
5. Smyth (how many games before he is out injured again?)

1) El Miz ( might get a short loan if we are lucky)DuvB wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 12:47 pmFor me, the order of priority is:Beradogs wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 12:37 pm Smyth strikes me as one of those guys that would have done it already if staying so just a hunch he is off. 2) Vigs ( remember he had a very strong defence in front of him but I think he will sign.
3)Beckles( very casual on occasions and lacks pace could be caught out next season?) but will sign imo?
4) Happe (lacks pace and becoming a little injury prone but very much improved)think he will sign imo?
5)Smyth( they wouldn’t have let him go and other clubs would have signed him if he wasn’t injury prone but there is the problem) missing for many games last season and we still won, you decide.
There’s plenty more fish in the sea main thing is we keep Wellens

In order of how annoyed I'd be if they left/how hard they'd be to replace:
1 - Vigs
2 - Happe
3 - Smyth
4 - Beckles
Not ranking El Miz because give it up people, he ain't coming back.

Found out that Happe has been touted by Aberdeen but will not be going there as his partner has said "NO WAY!"
