Re: Sports that do nothing for you…
At the highest levels womens football is ok, but some of the group stages of the european cup games and all of the WSL games are shocking. I see better down at level 9. If womens football is to take off I think they need to make the goals a bit more proportionate to the average size of a woman. Some of the goalkeeping is Hackney & Leyton league stuff.

I don't care about what they have to do to improve it as a spectacle - maybe nothing? Maybe it's fine as it is? - I just don't really care. Aware it's probably a bit of a mad position, it's still football, it's not like it's a different sport, but I just don't have room to feel anything about it. Maybe it's a victim of overall football saturation.LittleMate wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 12:16 pmAt the highest levels womens football is ok, but some of the group stages of the european cup games and all of the WSL games are shocking. Also, and again this is probably counter to other things I believe in and practice, I get annoyed that women's football is increasingly labelled 'football' on the BBC and Guardian sites so you see the headline 'Arsenal sign Sanchez' and think, 'oh aye?', and then you click and realise it's about the EWPL and I don't care.

Re: Sports that do nothing for you…
I'll agree with everyone about F1, which is a shame as I used to love it as a kid but I gave up when they introduced the DRS push to pass thing. If you need to artificially allow people to overtake your Motorsport class is already broken.
Football, outside of team you are emotionally tied to it's hard to argue it isn't a shocking sport. Ball in play figures are pathetic and watching every break get stopped by someone holding the player back is just dull, and so on and so forth.
Rugby, a game that punishes attacking play and encourages passing sideways until the defending team gives a way a penalty for having their shoe laces untied or some other arbitrary foul that changes game to game depending on the referee. There's a reason ruby fans have to get so drunk to sit through games.
Darts which shouldn't be in this list as it isn't a sport but enough dullards who are too fat to play actual sport think it is, as it gives them an elite sport they can relate to.

Given the Formula 1 mentions above, will say I used to follow it big time but am totally bored with it now, never bother with it.

Formula 1 and basketball.
I'd even put indoor bowls way ahead of these two.
