I don’t think the owners are desperate for back to back promotions. NT’s interview was all about overcoming the challenges we face, financially and ground capacity. We’ll be aiming for a solid season where we do OK but learn a lot whilst we tackle the ground and financial concerns. I still think we could finish top half though, dependant on signings of course.

That’s worst case for players/fans but the reality is worst case for investors is they lose a lot of money. Won’t happen. Saying that, Richie has a budget agreed in his contract by the sounds of it so it will go up. But can’t imagine Richie hanging around for long if 12th place is our ambition

the plans for a new ground have accelerated this year when they clocked they might soon be one good season away from spectacular operating losses (or relegation)OTF Photography Ltd wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 1:36 pmThat’s worst case for players/fans but the reality is worst case for investors is they lose a lot of money. Tough one. And interesting, too.Wally Banter wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 11:04 am Let's calibrate everyone's expectations for our first season back in League 1.
Just glancing at the teams comprising League 1 next year, I've got to assume that we're firmly bottom half in terms of budget size. Equally I don't see many financial minnows whom we should automatically expect to outperform. For me, it would be an acceptable (though obviously not very enjoyable) outcome if we simply steered clear of relegation troubles.
I suppose that would only feel acceptable, though, if we could see some encouraging signs for the next season - e.g. a good core group of contracted players, a happy Wellens, a clear philosophy for how we'll play, better players signing in each transfer window.
Ling has only ever bought success by outbuying the competitors - spending a big budget on players from the division above to get us up. He did it in 2006, 2019 and last season. I'm not sure Wellens has ever had to work with a limited budget either.
What's Slade doing these days?

Our first choice team is easily good enough for a top half finish.BoniO wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 1:28 pm I don’t think the owners are desperate for back to back promotions. Whether we can 1) keep that together and 2) improve the weaker areas on a bottom half budget is going to be a challenge.

Would T&T actually like us to go up next season? They've already said that as it stands they can't really fund a championship club and would probably hand the club over to someone else. The reality of going up might be financially disastrous for us short term...

Too many on here prepared to accept mediocrity.
Being Champios next season isn't good enough.
They need to be Champions by Good Friday at the very latest

I don't think they went quite that far, but they are indicating that they need more bunce if the Club is to go to the next level, in both senses of the word. Doesn't matter who comes in though, running a Championship budget on crowds of sub 9k would be extraordinarily expensive. It ain't sustainable without a new stadium.OTF Photography Ltd wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 3:58 pmI mean, that opens up a very interesting question:OyinbO wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 2:50 pmthe plans for a new ground have accelerated this year when they clocked they might soon be one good season away from spectacular operating losses (or relegation)OTF Photography Ltd wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 1:36 pm

14th or above with no relegation scares. Given there's a mini rebuild to do this summer so get a nice comfortable season with two strong transfer windows to get ready for a push the season after.
Also FA Cup run of 3rd round or better please.

Anything above the relegation zone will do me. A couple of years consolidation then a promotion push.

Yes , I’d also be happy with that.

Once we have an all signed up and delivered team I might have a considered prediction. Now's just too early.
