When Drinan is back I wouldn't mind seeing the old front three of, Archibald, Smith and Drinan. Switch it around for a while..

Hi, this is 1986 calling, can I have my tactics back please?Beradogs wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 9:44 am Just a thought but what about if we switch to 4-4-2. I am not Ruel’s biggest fan but he is certainly better more advanced. Him and Smith could work. At least give it a go especially with El Miz out. Don’t think I can bare another week of sideways/backwards no shots and no goals. We need to change it up a bit.

So you'd drop Smyth?Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 10:55 am When Drinan is back I wouldn't mind seeing the old front three of, Archibald, Smith and Drinan. Switch it around for a while..
Problem with that formation is the lack of press you get from Smith and Moncur just behind him.

Yes, I had thought of that. But it's another option to use if injuries (or suspensions) allows.

If you play those 3 , then Smyth is dropped, unless you're playing him as the 10 instead of Moncur? (Which I'm not keen on).

RW Said exactly this after either Donny or Barrow !Cheshunto wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 9:00 amFact is that we have stopped creating chances for the strikers that we do have, so it seems pointless bringing in new strikers that will suffer the same problem.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 12:31 amAgain Red we need a Goalscorer , strikers are ten a penny so to speak , finding a goal scorer is a different kettle of fish !RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 11:53 pm
Good player but would Tom Nicolas suit Richie's style of play ? Anyway , I completely agree we need a new striker .
We already have good strikers but they need service and balls played up to them in the box or crosses from wide in Harry Smith’s case. Sometimes our midfield prefer to play the safe square or back pass to keep possession instead of playing forward and risking losing possession or creating something for one of our forwards.
Easy for fans like me, Tuffs’ et al to make these comments but we’re all showing a bit of concern that’s all .
Now eveyone screaming for a striker,
When the problem is the pass & movement
& why Lyden was brought in .
Lincoln had a £350 k bid turned down for Langstaff come back with 7 figures .
NL Telling L1 f*ck off with your miserable offer we want £ 1.5 million .

You must mean all the other clubs that are above Orient in the table.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 11:01 pm Many other clubs, work out in November and December, who they're after, and on January 1st, they are ready to get business done. The early bird catches the worm and all that etc.
If only we followed theirs (and your) directive, all would be well. Perhaps you should go and 'support' (loose term) one of those other clubs since they are so successful instead of dropping your bilge all over this forum night and day.

Re: Is anybody else coming in?
I agree, we do have the strikers that COULD score goals. Yes, they need better service but I think we also need a big centre forward to change things up from time to time. Whether Harry can now do the job is another matter.Cheshunto wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 9:00 amFact is that we have stopped creating chances for the strikers that we do have, so it seems pointless bringing in new strikers that will suffer the same problem.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 12:31 amAgain Red we need a Goalscorer , strikers are ten a penny so to speak , finding a goal scorer is a different kettle of fish !RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 11:53 pm

Re: Is anybody else coming in?
Harry Smith was doing that last season. If our strikers can get better service then we’ll see what happens. I’m hoping Lyden could be the player to provide us with that .it should have been Moncur but so far he’s been disappointing.

Re: Is anybody else coming in?
He turned down a move to Colchester . If I can remember correctly he left us because he wanted to move up North . Turning down Colchester would imply he still doesn’t want to move this far South

Honestly thought this thread was the first instance where Reverend’s philosophical musings actually got some traction

Re: Is anybody else coming in?
Based on the fact it’s Wednesday evening with less than a week of the transfer window to go and there has been no announcement, guessing that the two loanees and the unfit freebie is the totality of our transfer dealings.
Disappointing.
Disappointing.
Re: Is anybody else coming in?
I wouldn’t worry about it - none of the potential loanees or signings actually exist, nor do any of the current squad.

Even if we sign 8 strikers, 6 midfielders and 7 defenders, we will still finish 8th. There is nothing we can do about it

Haha you’re making me look like a clown digging up these old threads! Another one where I’ll hold up my hands and say is was completely wrong.
