The number that stood out for me was 12000 people who have come to matches this season. Our stadium currently only accommodates 7500 home fans - a big problem with no easy answers. Options:-

Refurbish East Side asap. so that we can get back to capacity of 9271 and make it flexible so that when we play Fleetwood or Burton - they get 500 seats and the rest are for home.

Could also look at building backwards and upwards on the stand - using the space behind the stand - could add an extra 1000 or 1500 - but roof and viewing angles might be an obstacle.

Get the ticket exchange working fully - giving returnees £15 per ticket - so that stadium is always full.

5 Hours & 15 minutes when I went in 2008 .

Have you been behind the stand? There is a little matter of a public highway there. The club cannot build behind the stand as they cannot build on the highway.

An application for planning permission to build upwards, would no doubt result in objections as it will obstruct people's access to light.


The only options I can see on the East side would be to demolish the whole stand and build it up steeper, to get extra rows of seats in the same space and with a modern roof, not an apexed one would improve view with no extra height. The cost of this would be very significant and not increase significantly capacity. The only other thing it may allow is the installation of executive boxes to try to get prawn sandwich brigade money - realistically it is probably not worth the significant costs unless and until the stand needs to be demolished for safety reasons

What about safe standing? When I was a lad on't north terrace I seem to remember the capacity was ca. 30,000

There are no viable options for increasing capacity at BR that don't come with insane costs. And the increase in capacity would be relatively marginal, in a stadium the Club doesn't even own.

Bazza has totally screwed us over.
No chance of sig increasing capacity at Brizzy Rd, marginal increases for huge costs, it just ain’t worth it.
Even if we had £100m to spend, there is simply nowhere available in the Leyton area for a decent stadium.
Might as well ramp up admission price to choke back demand.
