Bury Fc
"The EFL Board feels it has been placed in an unenviable position and, regrettably, has opted to take the reluctant decision to suspend Saturday’s opening day fixture between Bury FC and MK Dons."

Re: Bury Fc
Rough.
Would be laughable if it was so sad. The EFL seem to see no issue with why this has happened, more interested in punishing fans and players than the dodgy owners. Also interested in making sure Wimbledon call MK by their name.
Bury just been promoted as well, it should have been a celebration.

Re: Bury Fc
It’s always sad to see a club struggling, as we know only too well of course under FB. Feel for the fans.
Something awry with the EFL though, it’s just one club after the other, they need to get their act in order on ownership and finances.
Fingers crossed for both Bury and Bolton.

Re: Bury Fc
I fear we are starting to see the beginning of lower league Football imploding on itself. If its not corrupt owners, its owners that simply can't afford the rising costs, but try and find the money from somewhere to try and keep the club afloat, until that runs dry and they do a bunk.

Re: Bury Fc
Lack of due diligence on the part of current owner - unfortunately there was a black hole in the accounts which only came to light after the last takeover.

Re: Bury Fc
I think most people would expect them to uphold their own values - protect the image and integrity of The League and its competitions, the well-being of the Clubs, and the interests of all of the stakeholders in those Clubs(taken from the EFL website)

Haven't many of them gone to Plymouth with the manager?RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 12:36 pm I'm a little surprised they didn't lose more of their best players to other clubs .

Re: Bury Fc
I bet Neville Neville is turning in his grave .
As most fans of Bury know he did a great job with the save our shakers campaign.
I wonder how Gary & Phil feel over at Salford .

Re: Bury Fc
Lots of words but no actual answer
.wWhat exactly do you want the EFL to do that they legally can.
The EFL have no power to run or even interfere in running of clubs.
The can make rules and punish clubs for non compliance which is what they do.
The EFL run a competition not run the clubs in the EFL
People have expectations of the EFL they can't legally meet

Re: Bury Fc
They could at least uphold their own (fairly useless) Fit and Proper test. In Bury's case they didn't even bother with that.
The game needs an overhaul, the EFL should be disbanded and a regulator with teeth needs to be created. Never happen, obviously.

Re: Bury Fc
The madness of the Football League finances vs the Premier League is nothing short of disgusting!
Prem players on weekly wages that would keep these clubs going - completely wrong but cannot see how it will change now

The EFL are not responsible for regulating clubs.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 8:31 pm They could at least uphold their own (fairly useless) Fit and Proper test. In Bury's case they didn't even bother with that.

They are responsible for their competition They are not allowed by law to do most of what fans want.
They punish clubs who breach their rules, then fans complain that clubs are punished

Re: Bury Fc
If the EFL are responsible for deciding who plays in their competition they can easily create a set of legal rules that all members have to follow. all clubs submit a bond to the EFL, clubs cannot have a chairman with a judgement against them, clubs cannot have a chairman who have been declared bankrupt, etc. Any club as an independent business doesn't have to follow these, but if you want to be a member of the EFL, and as such play in the EFL you have to abide by themspen666 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 11:24 pmThe EFL are not responsible for regulating clubs.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 8:31 pm They could at least uphold their own (fairly useless) Fit and Proper test.
