I say: I am an atheist, so, why would I do that? Good riddance.
I might add that the term Christian is a very broad spectrum. This thread is probably very offensive to many of them.

Oh Jesus Christ!

Oh Jesus Christ is magic
He wears a thorny hat
And when he got buried
He said "I'm coming back"
He wears a thorny hat
And when he got buried
He said "I'm coming back"

Re: Should we become a Christian club?
Our lot never stop you in the street asking you not to believe in faries. I was even having a quiet moment with my earbuds on waiting from a mate in Coronation Gardens before the game last Saturday when one of them insisted on trying to save me.Beradogs wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 4:46 pm Over the years I have found atheists far more insufferable and convinced they are right than any Christian I have met so although I struggle to have any religious leanings, it wouldn’t surprise me if there was something once we die albeit looking nothing like Mohammed or Jesus etc

Re: Should we become a Christian club?
Simple: all are null and void as religion only causes trouble.Frogger wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 2:51 pm I’m all up for this but have some questions:
1, Could I still swear at awful refereeing?
2, Would there still be fixtures during the holidays?
3, Is it still permissible to blame God for us losing?
4, When you say Christian is the Catholic or CofE?
Appreciate answers to all of the above.

Re: Should we become a Christian club?
I imagine it’s quite unusual in this day and age to have a group of 20-25 men aged under 40 and over 1 in 3 of them be Christian, so I do find it interesting that there’s a high concentration of believers in the squad.
George M appears to spread the positivity in his messages of Christianity. Listen to his interviews and his social media content and he is often talking about challenges in life and Jesus giving him the power to overcome them. He also credits Jesus with playing a large part in any success he may have. I can see how this kind of messaging would appeal to a professional sports person.

Deeply saddened (not offended) by the comments on this thread. Chiefly because over the years Jesus and his message has been so misrepresented by his 'followers'.

Good to see the club take my idea on board and we can now see that Jesus has rewarded us with success on the pitch. Now we need to profit.

Feels like we could have avoided several decades of mostly underachievement by getting The Big Man in a bit sooner.

Re: Should we become a Christian club?
NO! I think religion is a load of rubbish and causes more harm than good. Moncs annoys me with his consistant God talk frankly. You can see he is a good man but I do not wish to have other people's beliefs rammed down my throat.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 2:16 pm With Moncur and a significant number of god botherers in the squad, there could be money to be made from this if we play up to it.
Would appeal internationally and we could pledge only to sign believers in future, possibly attracting star players.
We could also have church service at brisbane road on sundays and attract thousands.

Re: Should we become a Christian club?
Might have imagined it but thought I noticed El Miz trying to keep out the way of the champagne being sprayed around after full time at Gillingham. I think other sports - particularly the England cricket team - have switched to non alcoholic stuff to avoid anyone feeling uncomfortable. If we do have people practicing other religions in the dressing room, I'd hope we do the same.

Re: Should we become a Christian club?
I’m happy for anyone to believe if it makes them happy but I’m a proper eye roller at the praising god thing. Think it’s all rubbish
BUT it seems like it really has brought this group together and even the lads who probably aren’t religious have embraced and accepted it which must do wonders for the squad unity. Seems a very open and accepting bunch.

Re: Should we become a Christian club?
Can you imagine the response if it was El Miz who had encouraged half the squad over to pray for his sky fairy?
