Wow I got it totally wrong!! I thought we’d only played them about 6 times!,Lucky7 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2019 2:37 pmWhen’s it ever been easy against Crawley?Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2019 2:35 pm The start is key for a number of reasons:
- we have a relatively easy start. I’d expect Cheltenham, Crawley and Macclesfield to be fighting off relegation and we play them in the first month.
- if we get off to a bad start then Ross and the team are immediately under pressure.
- thoughts of Justin start affecting the squad negativity rather than potentially galvanising them if we were to start strong.
- pressure on the board.

Not so sure about that if you're measuring it against us. I think we might get caught out by the pace in league two.

Mid-table and that's ok for the first year back in the EFL.
We don't yet have the quality to do better - especially if Jobi is going to play a bit part in the campaign.

I am always the super optimist at this stage so I'm voting for us being champions. I think that we are a natural L1 team and we are going to get there this season.

Re: New Season - where will we finish?
Mainly thinking about the likes of Bradford, Plymouth, Mansfield compared to the rest, most of whom are pretty average. Agree though our lack of pace is a concern.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2019 3:19 pmNot so sure about that if you're measuring it against us. Re: New Season - where will we finish?
We don’t know yet what the quality of L2 is. I expect it to be faster and more skilled than the NL, probably less brutal and with better quality refereeing clamping down on the thugs.
I don’t think 10th is unrealistic. And unsatisfactory. Will be exciting to find out, hopefully not painful.

At the moment, If somebody offered me a 10th place finish, I’d snap their arm off. After what we’ve been through, a 10th place finish in our first season back would be very good .dOh Nut wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2019 7:30 pm We don’t know yet what the quality of L2 is. Re: New Season - where will we finish?
I went for play-offs because I like to be positive. In all honesty though I'll think we'll just miss out in 8th spot, but I don't like the term mediocrity if you finish 8th.
8th position after the summer we have had would be a successful season.

Re: New Season - where will we finish?
Curiously both Four Four Two & When Saturday Comes have us as 14th in their season preview.
Mind you this is the same Four Four Two that predicted we'd finish 2nd in the season we went out of the league!

Re: New Season - where will we finish?
I genuinely don’t think there will be any let up in the physicality - certainly if the play off games between Forest Green, Mansfield, Newport and Tranmere were anything to go by! I agree that it is likely to be faster ( all teams are full timers) and would hope that the refereeing is better ( though I won’t hold my breath on that one).dOh Nut wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2019 7:30 pm We don’t know yet what the quality of L2 is. ^ THIS. I really really don't understand why anybody would view a 10th place finish as unsatisfactory.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2019 7:56 pmAt the moment, If somebody offered me a 10th place finish, I’d snap their arm off. Re: New Season - where will we finish?
Mid-table for me, and if we get lucky with injuries ( ie we dont get many), we could just make a play-off place.
The first 11 is strong IMO, but the squad is thin, so injuries will hurt us badly.
however having said that, I believe we will bring more players in, so things may well work out better than mid-table.
i also expect a 'proper' manager/head coach will be brought in at some time, and again this will change things.
mid table is the lowest we'll be......this is league 2 not la liga remember
