Italy v England
Anyone watch the game last night?
Personally, l thought l was watching Orient in the second half after a brilliant first half.
And WTF was our National anthem all about?

The woman singing could have done a better job if she hadn't sung at all.
Southgate out thought Mancini and England outfought Italy in the first half. Mancini adjusted and after we gave the ball away for them to score it was kinda nervy. Orient on steroids!!

Yeah, made a nice change to actually see it out. Even though we sat so deep I can't recall Pickford being too troubled after they pulled one back.OTF Photography Ltd wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 9:04 am Was good to see us dig in and have the resilience needed. Brilliant result

Thought first half was some of the best football we have played under Southgate - amazing what happens when you do not park the bus whilst playing forward minded players and ditch the deadwood like mount and sterling!Chicken Dhansak wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 8:25 am Anyone watch the game last night?

Yep. Great first half, odd second..OTF Photography Ltd wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 9:04 am Was good to see us dig in and have the resilience needed. Brilliant result
I thought we'd let slip once Shaw got red-carded but the clock just ran down- we made it very difficult for Italy to do anything of note..

I'm hoarse from cheering on the Azurri. A deeply disappointing result against a 10th rate team.

Re: Italy v England
Sad to see that Italy's goal came from the inevitable chicken-head moment from Maguire 9who otherwise played OK)
Considering lack of game time Phillips played well
Grealish made an abominable decision to side foot his shot when faced with an open goal. I'm sick of watching him dive and dive and dive.
He would be a much better player if he stopped cheating all the time.

Re: Italy v England
True - but it is annoying to watch in a player as gifted as Grealish could be if he stayed on his feet

Grealish had doubtless ability, but for me he kills the flow by holding onto the the ball for too longContrifibulatoryFred wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 4:43 pm True - but it is annoying to watch in a player as gifted as Grealish could be if he stayed on his feet

Re: Italy v England
I thought the ref was pretty poor. Was it 3 or 4 yellows for "time-wasting"?, yet let some pretty bad and cynical fouls go un-carded. Really didn't think any of them were justified, personally, but I assume he was getting geed up by the crowd.
