I feel like part of why this has escalated so much is because nobody well placed who should be condemning the govt has properly done so, so there was a gamble that Lineker’s fairly mild tweet could be used as an example to help set a new normal. The government, at great expense, is trying to stop thousands of mostly males, without any documentation coming into the country illegally on boats across the Channel with zero background checks. I say:- When Boris took the Party over from May, he signalled that he was purging all the Moderates. He gave them a real rough time & most stood down when he called the General Election. Up popped a load of newbies in the Red Wall seats. Mostly they were thicko's of the " Hang em high brigade " The Tory Party is far from a Broad Church nowadays and is filled with bigots.
