They were running away with the title and then just made it on goal difference. And were in the end only four points above fourth spot.

Quite true, and i stand corrected. Yes, they still won the league - just.
But as an aside to this, look where they are now ! No doubt it's been noted by the club.

Re: Countdown to promotion
I will probably regret saying this but February looks like a run of winnable games.
March starts to look harder and April has some tough looking games.
Lets get some points in the bag in the next month.

Re: Countdown to promotion
Well, the crowd responded to RW yesterday ... let's get just as vocal at the away games.
I must confess that I was pleasantly surprised at how well we played yesterday given the shake-up to the line-up.

Re: Countdown to promotion
We are back on track after our wobble, and in good form!
Now it’s Stevenage’s time for a wobble.
Why they wobble we keep picking up points the gap grows at the top and L1 keeps getting closer!
Sat,
We are at home to Crawley, so we should pick up all 3 points.
Stevenage have a very tough game Stockport (A)
So gap could be 13 points after Sat games.

I said to my friend the other day ‘I’d be surprised if they got more than 4 points this week’ about Stevenage’s 3 games this week . Tough game against Stockport away this weekend to come for them too

With how tight it is below us, reckon we could lose every game til the end of the season and we'd still make the playoffs.

More seriously, I reckon we could be guaranteed promotion on Easter Monday or just after.

Re: Countdown to promotion
Yep, the good news is that we will actually win promotion on the day we are playing, as there won’t be any midweek rearranged games either side of Easter and the week after includes a full Tuesday night fixture list. Can’t say that I’ll be too thrilled if it comes at Sutton or Gillingham, although the irony of the latter makes it the fav!Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 10:43 pm More seriously, I reckon we could be guaranteed promotion on Easter Monday or just after.

Re: Countdown to promotion
Following my earlier post, we now need 15 points from 13 games to pretty much guarantee automatic, that’s 1.15 points per game, and that form would currently see a team around 18th.EastDerehamO wrote: ↑Sun Jan 08, 2023 12:48 pm Over the last dozen completed seasons, top spot has ranged from 82 to 99 points, averaging 88.5; third spot between 78 and 85 points, averaging 82.
So I guess if we’re looking at a target for automatic, it’d be 85 points, which is another 29 points from 21 games, an average of 1.38 points per game. That kind of form would currently have us around 13th/ 14th in the table.
Complacency definitely not needed, am sure RW won’t allow it, but we should really knock that off given what we’ve done so far this season.
Looking at the table, and as RW said the chasers will be playing each other, it’s doubtful that three other teams will reach 85 points, no wonder most bookies have us at anything from 1/50 to 1/100 for promotion.

Re: Countdown to promotion
Think Sutton away on April 15th is where we will be mathematically assured of promotion. For me, that was also the Nat Lg match we were more or less assured of promotion notwithstanding freak results (I may be wrong)
It would be better if it happened at home, Easter Monday possibly

Re: Countdown to promotion
Snap your tickets up folks, every time I look there are less and less. If all tickets were sold for yesterday, can't see any of our last six having any left soon. Might have to start reducing the away allocation somehow. Apart from Carlisle and more likely Stockport, there won't be much demand.
The Colchester game is on a train strike day so that could have an impact though.
I really don't want the away games at Salford or Sutton to be THE game. Demand will be huge and very limited space in the home ends.
