Re: Test match
Also going Friday. I imagine there will be some play on Friday because England surely can't be as bad in the second innings, which I can't see starting until at least Thursday afternoon.

Re: Test match
Laughable choice to bat on a green top of a pitch. Getting their just desserts.
From 36-1 to 43-7 that takes some doing.

Re: Test match
58-8 England have played a blinder here electing to bat on a green wicket on a blazing hot day where the pitch will dry out this afternoon and become easier for batting.

Re: Test match
85 all out.
The fourth time in just 3 years that England have been bowled out in a session added to losing 9 in a session to the West Indies two years ago.
Today was sheer arrogance from England who wanted to bowl last to justify picking two spinners, one look at the wicket at 10:30 this morning and it was blindingly obvious that the wicket would help the seamers.
Well done Ireland and particularly Tim Murtagh for bowling beautifully on a good old english seamer of a pitch.
The Aussies must be pissing themselves laughing.

Re: Test match
I would imagine that they made that decision with a view to making sure they got some practice in difficult conditions. Clearly they need it too!

Re: Test match
Meanwhile the Aussies are having their own competition amongst themselves to see who can be the most

Re: Test match
With respect DW79 A test match isn't the time to practice. Ireland have with a far far inferior attack to Australia. Prime objective of any test match is to win. This morning we should have bowled looking at that pitch and in hot and steamy conditions bowling was an obvious choice I would have thought.Dirtywookie79 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2019 1:15 pm I would imagine that they made that decision with a view to making sure they got some practice in difficult conditions. Re: Test match
I’m not saying I think it was a good idea, just that it’s the only reason I can see for them making that decision. We are pants wen the ball is moving about, doesn’t matter who is bowling it. So I guess they thought they should try and test themselves.

Re: Test match
We batted because we are playing two spinners and wanted to bowl last Root indicted as much yesterday when they announced the team it's pure arrogance from the England think tank who thought they could run up a score despite the conditions.

Re: Test match
Sorry if I'm coming across grumpy DW79 not at you it's another terrible England batting display feel for those that have paid to watch it.

Re: Test match
No worries. Tbf I didn’t realise JR had already explained the poor decision. Hopefully do them good to be brought back down to earth before the ashes. Just a shame for the poor folks that wanted to watch some decent cricket.

The words England and arrogance in the same sentence who would have thought it.Top of the West. wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2019 1:31 pm We batted because we are playing two spinners and wanted to bowl last Root indicted as much yesterday when they announced the team it's pure arrogance from the England think tank who thought they could run up a score despite the conditions.
How is the match going against the minnows from Ireland?

Re: Test match
They go together a bit like gloating and Scotsman. In the big scheme of things the Ashes are the target this summer but we always f up somewhere along the line better today than against the Aussies.

Re: Test match
Disagree I would like to see them eff up against both. I suspect you knew that and I further suspect you suspect it's probable.Top of the West. wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2019 2:40 pm They go together a bit like gloating and Scotsman. Re: Test match
Let’s face it the only joy the Scots get in sport is to see England do badly. Not much else for them to cheer about. Let’s be gracious and let them have a moment of joy.
Well done Ireland.
