What's the real extent of Paul Smyth' injury , this time?

Post by PeterKitchenisMagic »

Maybe I've missed what Richie Wellens has said but I keep hearing that Paul will be in the squad for the next game, but lately, he never is.
I read on here that it's his quads and then he's got a collapsed lung.

For me he hasn't been quite there for a while. And that seems like he gets "done" by the opposing defender after he's run past him a couple of times , early in a match and the defender leaves his foot in there to say " just watch it, I don't like you making a monkey out of me "
And with Paul's injury history that's enough for him to fade away from the action and doing those blistering runs we all so love to watch him do.

And for me, we are not quite the team without him. I think he makes everyone else in a red shirt play just that tiny bit better.

Paul, any chance I'll see you tomorrow v Crawley?

Before Sadlier came I would agree but without Smyth we have been playing some lovely football lately. Sadlier seems to link up play so well and honestly, if we could only pick one right now I would be tempted to go with Sadlier. Let’s hope we can make space for both. Great talents.

Hoping Smyth will be on bench and we will see both Smyth & Sadlier on pitch together tomorrow.
Really looking forward to this one tomorrow.
I believe the champions in waiting will put on a display tomorrow, showing why we are top, might not be reflected in final score, but I am expecting a dominant performance.
Going for 2-0 or 2-1, only as we find it hard to put the ball in the back of the net recently.
But in terms of possession/performance, we will be dominant.
If we find our shooting boots, then this could be 4 or 5!

Didn't look like he had a collapsed lung in 5 lads on Tuesday evening. Ritchie said he had trained earlier this week. The burst of speed that he has seems to leave him vulnerable to injury. he will forever be that way IMO.

His injury record will probably deter bigger clubs going for him and so may increase our chances of keeping him.

How quickly we've gone from "he's the best player ever! We'll be doomed without him! Championship clubs are all over him!" to "Paul who? Crock"

I exaggerate a little for effect, but really not that much.

Can't remember whether it was discussed on here or just IRL but Wellens is rumoured to be getting pretty narked at Smyth's habit of pulling last minute sickies and can't really blame him.
