I can’t help feeling you’ll never be happy watching the Orient. We’re romping home but you’d rather pick holes in players performances. All a bit sad really.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 10:11 pmWatch his whole game rather than the odd crossfield ball he plays

I don't know how you watch tonight's game or the one against Crewe, and see someone who's dross. Excellent first touch, quick feet, can open the game up and finds himself space all the time.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 10:11 pmWatch his whole game rather than the odd crossfield ball he plays
He does occasionally overplay or overcomplicate things but I don't think it's a coincidence that we're looking more dangerous since he's come into the team.

You must have missed the part where I praised Sweeney. He was excellent tonight, really making that position his own.BoniO wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 10:31 pmI can’t help feeling you’ll never be happy watching the Orient. Re: Exiles thread - Rochdale (H)
He was hiding behind players and not showing for the ball, he gets caught on it far too much when he does get it. There are flashes of a good player in there and I hope after a few more games, that comes out more but he isn’t living up to the hype at the moment.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 10:42 pmI don't know how you watch tonight's game or the one against Crewe, and see someone who's dross. Re: Exiles thread - Rochdale (H)
On that first half performance I thought we'd walk it because up to half time Rochdale were bloody awful . Second half we fall asleep , they score a belter then all of a sudden its a different game . We nearly let that game slip tonight but we dug in and held on for the win . All that matters to me is we won tonight but we'll need to do better against Crawley on Saturday if we want to win that game .

Sadlier looked knackered last twenty
Wellens kicked the team taking off Theo ended up with nobody on the pitch who is a ball player
Sadlier knackered, Kelman up top who offers not much, then a striker on the wing in Drianan, a striker in the 10 in Ruel, it just completely killed the team

How, explain to me the last 30/20 minutes of that much bar Sadlier, who was a ball player on the pitch and Sadlier was knackered too, it was crying out for Moncur or someone who can control and pass the ball, ended up with three strikers on the pitch essentially trying to pass the ball

Re: Exiles thread - Rochdale (H)
Sadlier isn't dross, great in the 1st half, certainly tailed off in the 2nd half like the others. RW has mentioned the virus in the squad. What I noticed in the first half was we were playing balls forward centrally into feet, which we are usually scared to do. One of the reasons for that is we have a better quality of player in those positions, finding space and having the confidence to control the ball under pressure and turn in tight spaces. Sadlier is the reason for our rejuvenated form recently. He's got the abillity to shape a ball into the box while under pressure.
Just see the link up play v Walsall between Moncur, Sadlier and El Miz. They are league 1 players and they know it.

Sadlier is a lovely footballer and not afraid to graft either. He's only just getting going, there's lots more to come. He's obviously too good for L2.

What did he do that was “great”? He’s a luxury player. Rarely beat the first man with that ‘balls shaped into the box’.Petrov788 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 9:11 am Sadlier isn't dross, great in the 1st half, certainly tailed off in the 2nd half like the others. Re: Exiles thread - Rochdale (H)
I think we have to cut the team a little slack,RW said there’s a bug going round in the camp and we have to take him at his word. Perhaps it’s a good thing we had a poor second half as we could have gone into Saturdays game a little over confident?. There is now more pressure on the team than at any time, so performance levels will drop occasionally. As for Sadlier he has been a good acquisition imo however he is not strong enough to lead the line unfortunately (again imo) but remember he hasn’t played regularly until now.Sweeney has improved like many have said but he’s not that good at crossing a ball when going forward and needs to work on that. My main gripe if I may, is that I just can’t see Drinnan or Kelman making a decent striker as long as they have a hole up there backsides, but hopefully we can address that next season . I’m one of the moaners that some people refer to on this board,as tuffers will probably confirm but this season it’s been different, the board have actually got the right man in and RW seems to have more say in what players he wants. I‘ve been an O’S supporter for over 50 years and can’t remember us being in the driving seat at the top of the division before so let’s enjoy it while it lasts, because if we do go up there be plenty of time to moan next season,I’m sureessexfootball wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 11:02 pm Sadlier looked knackered last twenty

Re: Exiles thread - Rochdale (H)
That was a decent interview but the only reason why Rochdale were the better team in the second half is because some of our players were unwell .

Monkey Boy, sorry my friend but the criticism followed by "the board have actually got the right man in" (presume you mean RW) is rather contradictory. But, I do agree with enjoying it whilst it lasts!Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 10:58 amI think we have to cut the team a little slack,RW said there’s a bug going round in the camp and we have to take him at his word.
