Which footballer in this country has been convicted of murder?BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 12:05 am He’s back with the girl. New evidence came to light along with witnesses dropping out. Very unsavoury, the whole thing and I don’t feel comfortable him playing for United again but convicted murderers are able to play football in this country so I can’t see why he won’t play again.

Re: Mason Greenwood
He's done in this country, imagine he'll try and rebuild his career abroad.
The fact that Greenwood was contacting the woman in the build up to a trial and breaching his bail terms as a result is mad to me. If you know even a little about abusive controlling relationships, you'll know that the victim regularly stands by and forgives the abuser. It's why during a case like this, making sure that there is proper separation is so important.
Can someone be done just for breaching their bail conditions? The evidence that's public is so damning and horrible, it'd be very grim if he got away with it all because he managed to coerce his partner into withdrawing her statement.

Re: Mason Greenwood
Not sure what the penalties for breaching bail are other than a recall to prison in some cases, but don't believe he was ever held on remand. Would be amazed if there hadn't been some kind of restraining order in place, unless the bail terms were deemed enough (which it appears they weren't).

Re: Mason Greenwood
Quick Google suggests breaching bail isn't an offence, but the actions you undertake in breach of said bail (ie witness intimidation) are.

Mark Wright did ok & went on to play for England after being tried for attempted R@pe .
Re: Mason Greenwood
It’s all thoroughly depressing. I’d like to think he’s done in this country, but nothing would surprise me. My guess would be that he gets himself a place with a championship club who rides out the shitstorm, and eventually a struggling prem club do the sums and decide that they’re gonna give him a “second chance”

Is he back with his victim or are they separated?
Re: Mason Greenwood
It seems that there’s a lot of vague stuff flying about, so I’m as confident in this as lottery probability, but the impression I’ve got is that he’s back with the victim, after what seems like some iffy stuff from people who you’d expect to discourage that from happening
Re: Mason Greenwood
I would be amazed if, within the next two years, there isn’t someone posting on here, without irony, that we need a goal scorer and Greenwood hasn’t been convicted of anything. In fact, the only thing that might preclude that, is if he gets a gig at a bigger club first

Re: Mason Greenwood
Maybe Preston will take him on and set up a wholesome forward partnership with Ched Evans?

Re: Mason Greenwood
Thing is I'm generally pro giving people a second chance in football - if some sort of rehabilitation and atonement has taken place. This guy is a known piece of sh*t who has physically abused a young woman and his 'punishment' will be to lower his career earning potential from set up his family up for the next century, to simply setting himself up for life.
I really doubt an English club will take a punt on him in the first instance, he'll go abroad and most likely do very, very well because he's a sensational footballer.

Re: Mason Greenwood
Of course someone will take a punt on him. The only questions is how far down the chain he has to go.

This is the issue. At what point will have atoned for his actions? At what point will it be ok for him to go back into employment (whatever it is).Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 12:24 pm Thing is I'm generally pro giving people a second chance in football - if some sort of rehabilitation and atonement has taken place. None of those 3 are convicted murderers.
So, I ask again who are the convicted MURDERERS playing football that you refer to
I am not aware of any convicted murderer playing professional football

Re: Mason Greenwood
He never will, because it looks like he coerced an abuse victim into withdrawing her witness statement. Atonement would be to confess and he's never gonna do that.
Obviously there's an element of speculation to this, but the evidence that came out from the leaked recordings and pictures are absolutely vile. I wouldn't go to Orient games if we signed him, I'd put it that way.
