Point is they're fit and fresh with options. We're putting square pegs in round holes and struggling to create. How many shots on target from us today?Ron Waffle wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 5:31 pmYou’re obsessed with this. How many of stevenages new signings started today ?

This transfer window so far has reminded me
of Orient of yesteryear in that we’ve seemed
to have gone for quantity over quality..
We’re on 1 goal in 6 games and top of the league
and up until today with a healthy cushion on the
chasing pack and yet Wareham going back, Drinan
out injured we haven’t gone out and got a proven
striker to get us over the line to promotion..
Our defensive shortfall is of our making in that
the 2 sendings off were avoidable ..
Unbelievably for a side top of the league you just don’t where the next goal is coming from ..

I'm shocked at the way people said McCart played today . I would have expected a damn sight more from a player who's appeared seven times in the championship this season . As for Lyden, I'll judge him when I see him play .Frogger wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 5:02 pm That was just embarrassing. To be honest this performance was well over due. Why go on about George Ray, he has played 20 games for Barrow this season, it just didn't work for him here that happens in football.

Re: Easy to get angry with todays
I likened Mccart to Ray as they are both tall players but both seem to make very poor/weak clearance headers. Ray did it whenever he played for us and Mccart did the same today. I know he is not match fit and I of course hope that he proves to be a good signing.

As long as we remain in the top 3 I'm not really bothered tbh.

Not blaming them at all, but as someone already said not the kind of players I was hoping to get in the door. Especially when we are top of the league. These players are the type you sign when out of form or just need bodies through the door. I think it’s because if the latter and if that’s the case then that is p*as poor planning from the get go.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 5:07 pmWhy blame 3 new players for 1 game by 1 & 2 games by another . Decent enough players who need match fitness, judging on 1 game for 1 &a 2nd for the other is harsh , RW took responsibility for defeat deservedly & shows the QUALITY of the Man he is .Frogger wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 7:23 pmNot blaming them at all, but as someone already said not the kind of players I was hoping to get in the door. Re: Easy to get angry with todays
With the return of James and Beckles next week our defence will be stronger .Archibald and Moncur should also be starting next week as well .My only real concern is our strikers are not scoring . I don't know how much is left in the budget but we need to bring in a new striker . Oh and if we're going to play Sotiriou he needs to be played down the middle and not out wide .He's wasted as a wingertuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 7:34 pmDecent enough players who need match fitness, judging on 1 game for 1 &a 2nd for the other is harsh , RW took responsibility for defeat deservedly & shows the QUALITY of the Man he is .Frogger wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 7:23 pmNot blaming them at all, but as someone already said not the kind of players I was hoping to get in the door. Again with the budget!! RW Said after last week he wasnt worried about our strikers he was more worried about the crispness &the quality of our build up play . We arent scoring because we arent dominating play &creating good chances for our strikers to score . RW has to figure a way of creating &scoring chances to help us win . Zero shots on target today, more importantly virtually no clear cut chances created for 6 games now. Need more creativity from central midfield.gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 5:34 pmPoint is they're fit and fresh with options. We're putting square pegs in round holes and struggling to create. I agree but he did say bringing in another attacking player was a " work in progress " I assume by that comment we're trying to bring in another striker .tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 7:55 pmAgain with the budget!! Re: Easy to get angry with todays
On reflection after a sleep I think we all need to calm down a little and pull together.
We’ve lost arguably two of the best centre backs in the division. Happe is 6’5” and Omar 6’3”. That’s a lot of height to lose and we have looked weaker because of it. Omar should be back next game and will be great to have back.
We’re still a very good side. We need our defensive players back and a little more from our midfield and strikers.
We have been off it last few weeks but this might be the kicking we needed to push us on.
We’ve got a fantastic manager who will take stock over the next few days and have us ready for the next one.
