Re: What are you Watching Today Part 2
Finished Borgen, inc the new fourth season on Netflix. Main takeaway of the latter seemed to be that, despite being billed as the continuation of a tale of two successful, powerful women, they should be careful not to get too successful otherwise they'll go mental and either lose sight of of they are as a person, have a breakdown, or both. Know your limits, ladies.

The US version, set in the same location with the same tasks etc, starts next week with Alan Cumming playing a fringeless Claudia Winkleman. It's on Sky & NowTVTRUMP Plumbing wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 12:28 pmWilf is great, isn't he?The Mindsweep wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 9:24 pm The Traitors

The Duke- a man steals a painting and holds it to ransom, his demand? Free TV licences for OAPS. Olden days thing based on a true story with Jim Broadbent. I liked it. 7/10
Operation Mincemeat- olden days thriller about when we tricked the Nazis using a corpse with fake intel planted upon it. I liked it and would have liked it even more if I was paying attention. Kelly Macdonald is in it and she is attractive. 7/10

Re: What are you Watching Today Part 2
The original version of the mincemeat story was called The Man Who Never Was (1956). It's a fantastic film and I would commend it to you - it features Gloria Grahame in a slightly different role to that of Kelly Macdonald and she's also very attractive (or was). To me a superior telling of the story, although the modern one with Colin Firth is pretty good.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 4:58 pm The Duke- a man steals a painting and holds it to ransom, his demand? The Matrix Resurrection- I watched this but have no idea what happened. 4/10
Dune- I watched the first 30 mins but it seemed like total fantasy bollocks which I have no time for.

Re: What are you Watching Today Part 2
Watched all 3 episodes in one sitting on Monday. Great series and very well played by all involved. I'd only had a vague memory of the case but it really was bonkers. I'd be interested to know which bits of the show were added in for dramatic effect. He really was a clot, wasn't he?Dunners wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 9:49 am Was toying with watching The Menu yesterday, but we opted for the Stonehouse series on ITV instead. Decent for-telly drama that retells the absolutely bonkers story of Labour MP/Minister, John Stonehouse in the 70s. I had to look him up afterwards just to reality-check the story as it was so unbelievable. But it was true.

Other half has moved onto Strike. Can't be bothered getting into a JKR row so half watching it. It's absolute rot and no idea why everyone has such ridiculous names.

Re: What are you Watching Today Part 2
The Stonehouse disappearance was one of the first news stories I remember. Around that time we also had Lord Lucan doing a runner and Jeremy Thorpe embroiled in his thing. Also Orient were a stable 2nd tier side, very strange days indeed.StillSpike wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 2:27 pmWatched all 3 episodes in one sitting on Monday.
