We always needed two in anyway, Happe is out for the season and Ogie is out until mid March if we're lucky. If we didn't bring in any cover now, people would complain if there was anymore injuries in that area within the next 8 weeks.TRUMP Plumbing wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 3:18 pm Shows how impressed Richie was with Turns on Saturday then.....
We only started looking for a CB last week after the disaster with Beckles, Happe and Ogie, yet have managed to find 2. It does show that we can move quickly.

McCart only signed for them in 2022, Prior to that all SPL thus the "Theodore" Archibald connectionRedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 3:51 pm Wasn’t Adam Thompson’s previous club Rotherham ? . While I agree with that, against Stevenage Thompson has to start . We need his experience at the back .LittleMate wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 4:03 pmMcCart has been in the frame for weeks. He was Wellens preferred choice. Rotherham had to sign their man first (the Cardiff old boy) before letting cover like McCart go out on loan. I'd guess we moved far more quickly for Turns than McCart. With the season being as long and intense as it is, Turns will get opportunities and as well as he's done Thommo can be eased back to full fitness. Don't want him breaking down after 4-5 games.TRUMP Plumbing wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 3:18 pm Shows how impressed Richie was with Turns on Saturday then.....

Chances are nobody has guessed what striker we’ll end up with either . Hopefully somebody we’ll all be happy with. Fingers crossed.

This signing is much more like it. I am not disliking Turns but experience is needed right now.

Good news, but we do need a couple of more attacking options. Let's hope we can get then in in the next couple of days.

As the son of former Motherwell stalwart, Chris McCart, he is bound to be good.
I believe Chris is at the hooped version of the Ugly Sisters as some sort of coach these days.

Think it's safe to say that it will be Thomo and McCart as our CB pairing on Saturday but reckon Adam will be dropped to sub when Beckles returns.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 4:16 pmWhile I agree with that, against Stevenage Thompson has to start . Re: Incoming at 3pm. - Jamie McCart from Rotherham United
Seems a solid signing that gets the defence covered.
Good that we can now bring in an experienced CB if Thompson feels the pace after a few games back in the side after being out for a while, much as Happe did earlier in the season.

Just googled to find out he was at Celtic until 20 then released without playing for them. His dad was the head of development.

He’s played ten times for Rotherham in the Championship this season so he must be OK,TRUMP Plumbing wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 8:20 pm Just googled to find out he was at Celtic until 20 then released without playing for them. His dad was the head of development.

Re: Incoming at 3pm. - Jamie McCart from Rotherham United
Was at Celtic Academy the same time as Archibald according to my Celtic supporting golf partner. As to being another CB, there are still 20+ games to play so IMO if we can afford it, it's always good to have cover for injuries, suspensions etc.
Now for a couple of decent forwards.

Apparently that only equates to 175 minutes. He’s started 1 game. The other 6 he came on as sub…..
I don’t know the guy, I hope he’s fantastic, all I’m saying is in reserving judgement until I’ve seen him play, not getting carried away like some on here.

Re: Incoming at 3pm. - Jamie McCart from Rotherham United
Per soccer base he started 1 game (but was subbed), came on at half time in another and the other 5 sub appearances were all between 1 and 14 minutes. So yeah the 175 minutes played this season sounds about right.WilliamTell wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 10:24 pmApparently that only equates to 175 minutes. Looks a decent signing to me. We needed some numbers at the back and I like the additions we have made. Long season ahead and I am sure we’ll need them both. No doubt there will be more injuries and suspensions to come.

Re: Incoming at 3pm. - Jamie McCart from Rotherham United
That might be right but he’s coming from a Championship club where the level is significantly higher. As long as he’s fit he will be a worthy addition. RW wouldn’t have signed him if he didn’t think so.TRUMP Plumbing wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 10:59 pmPer soccer base he started 1 game (but was subbed), came on at half time in another and the other 5 sub appearances were all between 1 and 14 minutes. And stating the obvious but he’s not going to come on loan from a Championship club if he’s been playing. That’s the whole point isn’t it?

Re: Incoming at 3pm. - Jamie McCart from Rotherham United
It doesn't matter he's only started one game and substitute the other six .The fact he's appeared in the Championship this season would suggest he should be plenty good enough for League 2 . However I understand your point but I'm confident he'll be fine .TRUMP Plumbing wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 10:57 pmHe’s played 7 times.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 8:23 pmHe’s played ten times for Rotherham in the Championship this season so he must be OK,TRUMP Plumbing wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 8:20 pm Just googled to find out he was at Celtic until 20 then released without playing for them.
