What are you talking about. I want him to be fecking mega for us this season. None of the no preseason, recovering from injury stuff we were fed last year.

Come KO he will be fit, prepared and ready to go. Let’s see what he can do, didn’t see too much last season.
Me too , it just seems the usual doom mongers are slagging Gorman and Alibi off before the season even starts 👍
I’m sorry but saying that Alabi is not league 2 standard does not make somebody a “doom monger”. Utterly ridiculous thing to say.

The player had an entire season, in the division below, to prove himself. He scored 2 goals. A striker. Scoring 2 goals. In the conference.

His appearances last season were often comical. Entertaining, I’ll admit.

However, for people to observe, based on an entire seasons worth of evidence, that he’s highly unlikely to be up to the standard of league 2 football is totally reasonable.

This idea that he’s suddenly going start banging in goals is just plain bizarre. It defies all logic.
Its not unknown for players to come good
David Platt for example, who knew he would become an England star watching him play for Crewe against the O's in Div 4
Steve Castle suddenly found form with four goals against Rochdale and never looked back
I remember a Charlton player Carl Leaburn who hardly ever scored and had songs sung about his lean return
Became a cult hero when he started banging them in, our own Mr Mooney had a good season or two as well

Re. David Platt, you should never base anything on a sample size of one game, especially when he was young and still developing. Alabi doesn't fit that description.

Leaburn was also regularly booed by Charlton fans as he wasn't that great. His role was to win the ball in the air and as a target man to hold the ball up and bring others into play. He was also technically at a higher standard than L2. That's not Alabi either.

Castle was a midfielder who developed an all round game. That's just not going to happen with Alabi as he doesn't have the all round game. You're also underrating Castle's ability at the time. Players don't just find form and that's it - they need an underlying skillset.

Afraid there is no evidence from Alabi's performances or in current football to suggest he will make the massive improvements he needs to make just to be an above average player at League Two level.
