Re: Mascot / Poppy-Watch
I'm currently on manoeuvres in Snowdonia, and can reliably report that poppy sales are now in active measures in all shops and pubs. I even saw one being worn by some bloke on the telly.
Not sure if such an early sighting if a one-off, unique to this part of the country, or if similar patterns are being observed across the UK.

This thought also crossed my mind because we’re not playing at home for the whole of November. Obviously I’m assuming we’ll show our respects with whoever we’re playing away against on remembrance weekend

Still not convinced politics should be brought into sport.
Just as our players no longer take the knee, I’d like to think we could adopt a similar approach here. Let others do so if they wish but no one should feel forced to comply.

I can report that I made a contribution to Help for Heroes.
But before youse all condemn me out of hand I can say that it was to a wee wummin who dresses up as Paddington Bear to do her collections at the rail stations etc and she is a regular fare.
But better still I got a Paddington lapel badge which I've bequeathed to the grandson.

Update : The wee wummin that does the P Bear Gig was at the supermarket tonight behind a sea of Poppies. I walked as fast as I could to get past her before being recognised. But I did do the Foodbank gig.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 11:11 am I can report that I made a contribution to Help for Heroes.

As part of my tour of Snowdonia and North Wales, I visited the town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch yesterday.
I can reliably confirm that the gift shop next to the railway station has poppy displays either side of the payment counter.

Unlike Black Lives Matter in which we were bullied to respond, Remembrance Sunday is to remind the country of the ultimate sacrifice a whole generation made to protect us, instead of what happened to a thug in America.TRUMP Plumbing wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 9:18 am Still not convinced politics should be brought into sport.

14 -18 wasnt about " protecting us " , It was about a Family Feud that killed millions who had nothing to do with the Family .Type high wrote: ↑Sun Oct 30, 2022 8:21 amUnlike Black Lives Matter in which we were bullied to respond, Remembrance Sunday is to remind the country of the ultimate sacrifice a whole generation made to protect us, instead of what happened to a thug in America.TRUMP Plumbing wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 9:18 am Still not convinced politics should be brought into sport.

Re: Mascot / Poppy-Watch
Whilst it was bonkers that the club went ahead with the Poppy Day stuff whilst we’re still firmly in October, the way it was observed yesterday was appalling.

I think the playing of The Last Post confused some people. They thought that was the minutes silence and applauded when it finished.

Cheering the war dead was a novel take on things.
Because of the confusion, there was lots of talking from late arrivals.

I can only put it down to it being October and people just not expecting it.
I genuinely don’t think it was intentional or meant disrespectfully.

Good to see the Womble paying his respects. I suppose Uncle Bulgaria was on the other side, but ultimately it is always man v man.
