That team would get relegated.
I thought Young had gone out on loan as well?

practically all league 2 clubs would get relegated if they had to play their 2nd string all season.Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 6:39 am That team would get relegated.

Supposed to be on loan to Wealdstone. That said played 48 minutes of one pre-season friendly, and hasn't been in their squad for any of their National League matches.Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 6:39 am That team would get relegated.

You reckon a midfield 3 of Brown, Obeiro and Young could compete at L2 as a unit? Like, seriously?

Would they compete for honours? No. Would they get relegated as part of a team containing those other players? Absolutely not.

Its a mute point chaps. Its a reserve team.
What we should be able to agree on is that its a better reserve team than we have had for many years. Should give us cause for optimism through the season ahead.

I'm not sure we're going to get very far with this one - that midfield would see you relegated.
Thompson, Ogie, Smith and Ruel (and Wood if things were different) are all 1st team standard, the others not so.

Called back just to play in this game I would think, chance for the coaching staff to keep an eye on him, I dont think hes started yet for Wealdtone so probably needs game time.

Not uncommon for young youth players to still train with their parent club a few days a week and play in reserve games

Really disappointing that he's not getting any game time at Wealdstone - if they don't think he's ready for the National League yet, that's a worry.

He’s a quality player, you can tell, even at his age. I’m sure there’s a reason he’s not playing but it’s not his quality. He’ll be really good for us.

Agree with the Plumber here, have people forgotten the midfield we were fielding back in January with Coleman, Young etc looking completely lost?Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 12:46 pmI'm not sure we're going to get very far with this one - that midfield would see you relegated.

As Wellens said players like Young and Obieiro aren't anywhere near ready yet. That's the biggest difference this season so far squad wise - sending the inexperienced youth out on loan and swiftly dispensing with the notion that they're first team squad ready options. Fine for the PJ Cup and giving that competition the (lack of) respect it deserves.

The entire team were lost last january . Only a Philestine would blame the midfield .gshaw wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 5:57 pmAgree with the Plumber here, have people forgotten the midfield we were fielding back in January with Coleman, Young etc looking completely lost?Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 12:46 pmI'm not sure we're going to get very far with this one - that midfield would see you relegated.

The midfield options just weren't up to it, you lose that area you lose the game. There's a good reason Coleman and Young are nowhere near the squad this season.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 1:35 pmThe entire team were lost last january . You know as well as I do if you lose the middle of the park it puts more pressure on the defence. Similarly if you can't win or keep the ball you can't get it to the attackers to score.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 6:17 pmWe stopped scoring goals

Look at the some of the 50:50 challenges El Miz has been crashing through in the last couple of games as evidence of that. Makes a huge difference. As RW said the midfield was unbalanced, with too many similar players. He's sorted that out sharpish and it makes all the difference.
