Boozer
I am down on Saturday for game against The Monkey Hangers (Hartlepool) and as an avid O, I will be bringing a couple od Harlepool mates with me.
Whicj is the best for pre match beers? Leyton Technical, which I know and had a few beers in before, or the Coach & Horses a bit further past the ground (never been in). Whilst I have to dissaprove of their choice of club to support (nobodys perfect), I don't want them to feel akward (until after the match on the way back to Gloucester).
Thoughts.

Re: Boozer
Technical - young, trendy, £10 a pint, away fans, home fans, whatever.
Supporters Club - old men drinking minging ale. Sweatbox by 2.15
Coach & Horses - pub for our gorilla fan base. Wouldn’t recommend for away fans, or anyone really unless you have a porchant for tables falling apart and stares from literally every one.
Birkbeck- apparently it’s a pub that exists but it’s a 16 hour walk from the ground.
Star - wrong side of the station but good wings and burgers. Show rugby though which explain the tossers serving and drinking and £8 craft beers.
There’s various new bars, cafes, restaurants that do booze but f*** knows what they are like.
I’d go Yard Arm.

Re: Boozer
If it's sunny Coronation Gardens with a few tinnies is an option. There's usually a lively crowd in already of a Saturday.

Re: Boozer
If you’re early, and they want to mix with their own, head to the Shakespeare in Bethnal Green. The last 2 seasons a friendly group of about 40 of them have met there for pre-match drinks. Decent proper boozer 30 seconds walk from the tube. Always a warm Cockney welcome.
In E10/11. All pretty decent.
Birky is probably the last proper boozer. Quality garden.
Coach is great since the refurb but has door staff and if they have colours on won’t be let in.
Tech the standard away pub now at the request of the OB.
A 6 minute closer walk than the Birky is the Northcote. Good mix of home and away. Tuesday the Landlady a good sort. Rear garden if weather is decent.

Re: Boozer
I live about 400 yards from the Shakespeare and have only been in there about half a dozen times in 50 years drinking in the ' green ' it's a very narrow pub and I find it horribly uncomfortable when there's more than about 30 people in there ☹LPE wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 3:08 pm If you’re early, and they want to mix with their own, head to the Shakespeare in Bethnal Green. Re: Boozer
Heathcote known locally as The Alco-crèche.
If you dislike screaming infants running around which aren’t being controlled by their sloshed parents and tripping over two dozen buggies it’s one best avoided.

Re: Boozer
The new place on the next corner to the Technical (Rapture's?) is clean and sells Moretti!
If you want a little food with your beer then its up to the Lion and Key.
If you are sitting in the South stand (the best place to be IMO) then the SS bar is welcoming

Re: Boozer
Northcote off the High Road but is decent. Good food in the Lion & key especially if you like Turkish. New bar/restaurant Kapture which is by the Leyton Tech is popular especially if hot as you can sit outside. Anatolia Turkish restaurant is decent too

Keen to hear too.
I use it at least once a week. Food is excellent.
Admittedly Coffee and soft drink prices are criminal and they can be short staffed on occasion but I’ve only had good experiences. It’s a real asset to the area.

The Birkbeck is the natural home for the tradtional Orient follower. Always was, and always will be. The other options are simply nouveau imposters.....

Re: Boozer
I've been 3 times before the season's opener and it was all fairly good. Got in there at 1.45pm for a pre-match bite and they took our order. It was fairly busy so you give them a bit of latitude so at 2.20pm when someone got their food after us we asked questions. They had not processed the order and blamed it on the till roll not printing it out in the kitchen. Then got a manageress with a snotty "we are busy" with very little apology attitude. Fortunately my hunger got the better of my anger and so we walked out. A quick 5 lads in Coronation gardens before the big kick off.aylesburyos wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 1:56 pmOh why? Re: Boozer
see some of the players eating in Figo's
Have eaten there once on a match day and got my food later than I would have hoped, but it was very busy and we probably should have given ourselves more time. Food was lovely but felt pretty rushed. Hoping to go back on a non match day and enjoy it a bit more.
