Re: Dayton signs new contract
I like James and think he still has a lot to add. I'm nervous about relying on him though after two bad injuries.
If i had to guess as well, we wont see him in a match day squad until at least September and maybe even October.

Re: Dayton signs new contract
Still recovering from ankle injury and not available for the start of the season!
Re: Dayton signs new contract
I think this is good news.
Seeing him on crutches at the end of last season, I would doubt that he will be fit much before Christmas but hope I'm wrong. He is a good player and one of only a few who is not afraid to shoot from outside the box.
On the down side, I'm not convinced that Alabi coming off the transfer list is good. I suppose it's just that nobody wanted him and we can't get rid of him, so no point keeping him on the list. I hope it doesn't mean that he will make the squad on a regular basis.

Re: Dayton signs new contract
Saw an snippet from Embleton saying we won't see the Dayton we know for months yet.
I like the player and when fit is quality but with such a wafer-thin squad feels like an emotional decision rather than a practical one. No wide option apart from JMD and no Koroma to put out there either. If you move Angol wide (read he's played there too?) then it's back to Harrold or Alabi upfront as starters

Re: Dayton signs new contract
Why did it take him so long to put pen to paper? Is this not a worrying sign? Was nobody else interested in him? I trust the new managerial regime is not a "soft touch". We can not afford to rest on our laurels from last year.

Re: Dayton signs new contract
Gorman missed out on the entire pre-season last year and that was seen by many on this board as the reason why he made no impact whatsoever for us last season. Let's hope the same does not happen with Dayton.

Re: Dayton signs new contract
I like Dayton but for an attacking player he’s got a shocking goal record for any club he’s played for
Oops sorry I forgot it’s slag Alabi day off wrong thread

Yeah he's got a cool beard. What's not to like.
However, putting my soccerbizhat on for a second it tells me that he is a sicknote with no pace even when he is fit.

Re: Dayton signs new contract
Have to agree. Standby for more of the same this season then. As well, he hardly ripped apart the NL. Why do people in the club think he will start doing it in L2?Max B Gold wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 11:12 pmYeah he's got a cool beard. What's not to like.

Re: Dayton signs new contract
I quite like Dayton, I think technically he's in our top three players (behind McAnuff and Maguire-Drew). Saying that, I don't think I'd have given him a contract given we're a division higher and I think most of the logic behind it is trying to keep the group together. Every chance he proves me wrong though, hopefully.

Sicknote who has never impressed above National League level and doesn’t fit into any position in a 3-5-2. Delighted he’s signed.
