If a club gets expelled from EFL - what could happen?
Coventry have a fortnight to find a ground
https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/ ... y-16115090
Bolton Wanderers have stopped paying the wages
https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/17 ... n-pay-row/
And no clarity on what would happen. Could be an extra promotion place or possibly 23rd team would get a reprieve. If it was the former, I suspect the National League Play Off final wouldn't be needed.

The way the EFL allowed our game with Colchester to finish, they'll probably play with one team less in a League than amend the promotion & relegation system

Of course they do. They hate interfering Americans on the make more than any others.

Re: If a club gets expelled from EFL - what could happen?
I heard a similar conspiracy regarding the National League not wanting the Os to go up. The reason being proposed was the amount of revenue the club brings to away grounds and the attraction for TV cameras covering a relatively "big team" compared to some of the pub team dross in this god awful division.
Initially I laughed this off as nothing more than the paranoid ramblings of some random loony I'd met in the pub. But then I witnessed the shambolic officiating and blatant cheating at Bromley away and started to wonder if there was something in it....

I've already asked the EFL to withdraw their offer of a league place.
It's more rewarding to win the National League fairly.

Clubs are reprieved rather than extra clubs promoted

Re: If a club gets expelled from EFL - what could happen?
Been almost 100 years since a club was last expelled. And nothing in the rules. I suspect it would be more likely the 23rd and 24th clubs in League Two keep their place. However wouldn't surprise me if EFL looked at the clubs involved before deciding. May prefer Wrexham to Crawley or Notts County to Solihull.

There is lots of precedence. Its happened many times in non League football. Clubs going bankrupt or folding etcRientO wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 3:03 pmBeen almost 100 years since a club was last expelled. And nothing in the rules. Port Vale, who narrowly missed out on a League place at the most recent League election meeting - were uniquely invited to take over the fixtures of Leeds City and have been a member of the Football League ever since

I think the more recent situation of clubs folding is more of a precedent than something 100 years ago when the structure of football was very differentRientO wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 4:14 pmspen666 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 3:18 pmThere is lots of precedence. Re: If a club gets expelled from EFL - what could happen?
Expelled is irrelevant... its the fact that a division is left with one club short that is the issue. It matters not whether club are expelled, made bankrupt, resign or otherwise no longer are in the division that matters.RientO wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 4:40 pmWhen was the last time a club was expelled and what happened?spen666 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 4:20 pmI think the more recent situation of clubs folding is more of a precedent than something 100 years ago when the structure of football was very differentRientO wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 4:14 pm

There are not separate rules for replacing a club if it was expelled compared to the other ways it ceases to be in the division.
You are getting fixated with the word expelled . The issue is what happens when a club ceases to be a member of a division or league

Re: If a club gets expelled from EFL - what could happen?
I'm pretty certain that when Rangers bit the big one, an extra club (Dundee) was promoted from the Championship - if that helps. (2012)
The Townie bastards were hoping for a reprieve, but were told to stick it and the Dens Park guys got invited up.

Around the time Club 12 were promoted I recall a brand new club called Sevco Scotland Ltd were admitted to the old Div 3 to fill the gap.StillSpike wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 5:51 pm I'm pretty certain that when Rangers bit the big one, an extra club (Dundee) was promoted from the Championship - if that helps. This was despite the agreement allowing this fiddle to take place actually refering to a club called Sevco 588 Ltd. Strange times.

Yes - having done a bit more research, it looks like the "gaps" created in each division by the liquidation were filled by extra promotions from the division below **Max B Gold wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 6:06 pmAround the time Club 12 were promoted I recall a brand new club called Sevco Scotland Ltd were admitted to the old Div 3 to fill the gap.StillSpike wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 5:51 pm I'm pretty certain that when Rangers bit the big one, an extra club (Dundee) was promoted from the Championship - if that helps. What say you now, Spenny?
** Of course, having droned on about "Sporting Integrity" in booting out the Rangers, the SPL Chairmen actually meant for them to be re-admitted in League 1 (as it was called then - I mistakenly called it the Champtionship earlier). It seems that they were all for Sporting Integrity, but they didn't want to have to do without the money for 3 or 4 seasons and rather hoped that the Ibrox team would be welcomed into Tier 2 with open arms. They got the bums rush on that one.

In what way can a brand new club be "re-admitted".StillSpike wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 6:18 pmYes - having done a bit more research, it looks like the "gaps" created in each division by the liquidation were filled by extra promotions from the division below **Max B Gold wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 6:06 pmAround the time Club 12 were promoted I recall a brand new club called Sevco Scotland Ltd were admitted to the old Div 3 to fill the gap.StillSpike wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 5:51 pm I'm pretty certain that when Rangers bit the big one, an extra club (Dundee) was promoted from the Championship - if that helps. WTF is the relevance of what a different country under a different DA with different rules did?
You might as well quote from the rules of Quidditch from Harry Potter

Re: If a club gets expelled from EFL - what could happen?
Relentless.
Have to say though, in NL circles at least, the tendency tends to be to just spare a team from relegation rather than promote an extra one.
