Where did you hear Nigel Travers say this .Nothing on the website or Twitter. Is this another made up story.
Just read a post by someone who claims to have been on the call RW said no to 6 , he says were very close to getting the 7th on the list .

Its on the FB group Leyton Orient Supporter chat. I'm sure the chap that posted I won't mind me posting it up here :-

The club hosted an International fans focus group discussion this afternoon, chaired by Nigel with one of the US directors in attendance as well as Jake Cook, the clubs marketing manager and others from the club. Lot of the discussion was on getting ex pat and foreign fans more connected. 2 things jumped out at me

Streaming was a major discussion point and you can see the US influence coming to bear. Nigel is of the view that within 2 or so years, the EFL will authorise the streaming of all games within the UK and ROI and clubs will have more flexibility on charges. Seems to be a few hold-up clubs elsewhere against it but I got the impression he believes they will be overcome in time.

Secondly, we are chasing another midfielder with 7 names in the frame and, to quote Nigel, "Richie had rejected the last 6 names brought to him" To me. that ended the whole Martin Ling and who has the last say tedious discussion/conspiracy theory.

Absolutely Poundy . This is where things can go wrong . It should be Richie’s choice, not our asshole transfer committee. If it’s their choice I’m glad Richie turned down six of them.
Only another month of these stupid comments before school returns ,hopefully homework will keep you occupied
The transfer committee clearly do not listen to Richie before doing their homework , it’s not rocket science !!
Not sure I'd be trusting you to lecture anyone on rocket science, mate

What’s worrying is that there’s such a disconnect. You would have thought that after 2 or 3 knockbacks, Lingy would have some idea of what it was Richie needs in this position.

This is what's irritating me . So it appears the transfer committee chooses a group of players for a particular position and Richie's got to pick one of them . So If things don't work out on the pitch they become Richie's choice of player . Is that what happened to KJ last January . He was given a small pool of muppets to choose from so he picked the players he was most familiar with . Transfer committee chooses what players and the manager has to pick one . If I was Richie I'd turn down all seven players and play the youngsters instead . We're either going all out for promotion or we''re not . This is how it should work . Richie tells ML who he want and Martin try's to get them . If Martin can't get them we go to choice number two on Richie's wanted list and so on . Transfer committee keeps their mouths shut. . With the greatest of respect although they are great guys and business men what exactly do they know about things on the pitch ?

Why is Richie not naming names ?
How many matches has he watched as a manager ,
are really supposed to believe Moncur came
through the committe ?

This is the thing tuffers , I don't really know but its the way things appear to me . I only know what's been said . Richie's given a choice of midfielders given to him by the committee . ? Why are we confining Richie's choices to a small group of players chosen for him by this committee . Richie should ask for players that not on their BS list . What might happen with this system is we're going to end up with a midfielder that Richie didn't really want but was the best of a bad bunch . I really do wish this transfer committee would disband and let Richie decide who he wants , within reason of course .

The process does seem to be very inefficient. How much time have people wasted finding 6 players that RW never wanted. With RW having the final say, it would make more sense if he identified a shortlist of players he wanted (assuming he knows who he wants) and the TC goes and tries to get one.

Will our club ever get this right ?
I'd be very surprised if Rob Hunt was suggested by the transfer committee and not Richie, likewise George Moncur, so I think he is having his say. That said expecting a Manger to manage the team, analyse the last match, study forthcoming opposition, and then go on a tour of Britain looking for players is not practical, so some help is needed looking for future talent. As long as Richie has the final say which it appears he does I'm happy. Whether he's being offered a pile of talent or a pile of cack is a different discussion.

If he's being given a list it's for only 1 of 3 reasons.
1 His choices said NO ,
2 He hasnt named anyone ,
3 our budget wont let us bring in who he wants &
therefore other names are put forward ..

Its simple enough to understand .

I doubt they’ve gone through weeks of negotiations, agreed terms and conditions, then presented the player to Richie as a done deal.

More like a cursory phone call at most.

Travis has gone public with this to take the heat off of Golden Bollocks, to show he is doing something.

I doubt they've even spoken to them, but someone would have to analyse the player, talk to scouts, look at stats, videos, etc for each. No wonder we have more backroom staff than playing staff!

We probably do need two

6 - TBC, Brown as cover
8 - Pratley, Clay as cover
10 - Moncur, TBC as cover

Smyth can obviously fill in for Moncur if necessary but could do with a more permanent solution.

Obeiro is the only realistic contender from the kids, isn’t he? I don’t know how far away he is.

Usual suspects demonstrating once again they have little understanding of how the transfer committee works, still.

Spot on …

It’s the one thing I’ve hated about our club,
Let the manager choose who he wants, you’ve
only go back to the jan transfer window to
see how pointless the committee is and whilst
it’s allowed to continue a small proportion of
substandard players will be allowed to join our club ..
