Agree, would think Sweeney isn't on anywhere near the same wage though and effectively 3rd choice given Hunt and Ogie would be preferred options at LBRedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 8:53 pmTBH, Connor Wood is better than Sweeney who I think is only NL standard .Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 7:58 pm Tbf I’ve just heard the interview and RW states that it’s nothing to do with ability or character, it’s because they need to free up wages and they have Hunt as well as Sweeney and Ogie who can cover LB.

Re: Conor Wood
Listening to the interview I think Richie was right about our supporters negative chanting but I think it was only really tongue in cheek . Also I feel sorry for Conner Wood because I feel the club has treated him poorly .

Re: Conor Wood
Was it even the Orient fans who did that chant? Thought it would've been Crawley given they didn't get a shot on target in their previous game and not much better todayRedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 9:53 pmListening to the interview I think Richie was right about our supporters negative chanting but I think it was only really tongue in cheek . That's a fair comment because Richie was only assuming it was from Orient fans but he wasn't sure .gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 10:14 pmWas it even the Orient fans who did that chant? Of course. The Big Shot wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 8:44 pm This is how football has always worked though, players come and go for various reasons.
But if what Richie is saying is true, that Connor has not reacted adversely to a sh*tty situation, then dropping him from the squad so as to force him to go is proper, proper silly.

Re: Conor Wood
Crawley fans were singing the We’re F’ing S*it song and mocking having one shot in the 93rd minute. It wasn’t from our end. At least that’s how it appeared on the stream.gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 10:14 pmWas it even the Orient fans who did that chant? Why would we be singing self deprecating songs anyway? Doesn’t make sense.

That's what I thought would be the case too, maybe RW has got mixed up in the heat of battle. He wears his heart on his sleeve, might come off rash at times but I respect him for being straight up with what he's thinking at the time.Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 11:42 pmCrawley fans were singing the We’re F’ing S*it song and mocking having one shot in the 93rd minute. Re: Conor Wood
We defo had a small chant of “we’ve had a shot”. Usually tongue in cheek when you’re awful and 3-0 down or managed by Kenny Jackett in mid Feb. Not really needed today.gshaw wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 12:05 amThat's what I thought would be the case too, maybe RW has got mixed up in the heat of battle. Re: Conor Wood
I'm not sure why there's so many that think he's been treated poorly. We're onto our second manager who doesn't think he's good enough, so he's not in the squad and told he can find a new club. It's pretty simple.

Re: Conor Wood
Richie thought he was good enough last season.
He also thought he was good enough until the day he signed his old mate Hunt.
If Wood has kicked off about Hunt coming in then fair enough, that’s unprofessional and he deserves his dropping. But Richie has said that’s not the case. Leaving him out of the squad like this altogether is just petty.
The timing is really sh*tty as well. If they’d told him at the end of May he was free to go, it’s a different matter. To ask him to find a new club on the first day of a new season when most properly led clubs have completed their summer business is naughty.
I know it’s not strictly relevant and I know Richie had made lots of excuses for his lack of fitness, but Hint has been very average thus far.

Makes me remember even more what a great manager and bloke Justin was.
None of this player unrest or moaning about the fans, have to say not overly keen on Wellens

Not favoured by two managers now and apart from a handful of games when Wellens came in, he’s been poor including this pre season. We’ve got better options so no issue with him going.

But if Connor had kicked off, Richie wouldn’t have him anywhere near the first team squad on a match day.
So it does indeed sound as if the club has treated him like sh*t.

I’ve no issue with him being replaced. If Richie thinks Hunt is a better option, and we don’t have the budget for both Hunt and Wood, that’s fine.waigO wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 8:57 amThis.DaveDunmore wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 8:44 am If the club come out with a statement saying his attitude stinks every time he s dropped moans and is a bad influence in the dressing room, Would you sign him
