Power attendance .... lack of season tickets is taking its toll.

Unreal. Best since Chelsea (9698) in 1981/82?
Peter Shilton 1000th game was 9k+ I think?
Nope. It was 7944.
Wow I'm shocked at that, ground seemed packed out that day

Going forwards we looked very good, and on the counter, also very good ..... Quick and pacey, but a bit nervous when we're attacked.
We looked a little fragile at the back, and against better opposition we might pay.
Still, a great win on the opening day, which is what everyone wants

Peterborough play off game ?

If there was over 8 and a half thousand there today our capacity must have increased , there looked plenty of empty seats around the ground 🤔

A good win today and I'm very pleased .I thought Grimsby played alright but we were definitely the better side and should have been two up by half time . We had four or five good chances in the first half and should have been winning by the break .The Grimsby keeper nearly got to the penalty but had no chance with our second which was a beauty. At the end of the day it was the right result . Edit. A word about JMD. I thought he disappeared when he came on.

A gutting win for the likes of gshaw, Red Dwarf, PoundhillO, Qin & Chief Crazy Horse who all during pre season said they'd all prefer us to win the friendly games over the first game of the season, because apparently according to them, they're more important and build momentum better.

Now they have the satisfaction of enjoying the win and will probably have that logic ready for when we eventually lose at some point during the season so they can say that they've been wrong, so they all basically get the best of both worlds:

The team wins, they win too and they can enjoy it.
We lose, they win by saying that they've been saying is right and their ego is stroked.

Its win/win for people like that, be interesting to see what will be discussed in their weekly big shot meeting this week.

If you're gonna try and put words in my mouth at least get them right. I couldn't care less for pre-season friendly results, they're pointless. It's funny as when I used to say the same when Embleton won a bunch against pub teams people were trying to convince me the results mattered

As I've also said all I care for with Orient is to win, with nice football along the way a bonus. We win, I'm happy. RW saying we should have a new CM in soon is also pleasing. As long as he gets all the players he wants I have faith he'll take us up. Save that quote and use it better next time

Bizarre . I know in the real world its not possible but I want Orient to win every game we play . To say I'm one of those who's gutted we won is utter bollocks .

I was quite pleased with today's performance and we could be shaping up to being a decent side. Also, the attendance was very encouraging. James though, didn't look comfortable in midfield, but made amends with the second goal tap in. I don't think Thompson was as bad as some have made out. Good in the air and brave too.

disappointed to have been excluded from the list.

Got to be honest, when I saw the team sheet and there were too many defenders, I was praying Richie had gone 3-4-3 rather than playing James in the holding role after trapping off all week that he wouldn’t. 😆

Correct, I'm not a supporter and hate the term. I'm a football fan whose favourite team happens to be Orient :lofc:

Yup class act, straight talking but can give and take a bit of banter too, no wonder he got that squad functioning again in double quick time last season. In Wellens we trust.

To win the first game of the season is huge, and we did.

We played fairly well, but not great, but we won, and thats all that matters today

Well done the lads

I know I’m in the Exiles club now, but I honestly didn’t even clock it was the first Football League games of the season yesterday. I’m one of those who doesn’t really engage fully with football when it starts in August, let alone July!

Still, glad to read we won the opener. I shall be up for a match in the Autumn, no doubt.
