Re: Tory Watch
Amazingly, Truss coming across better than Sunak. Sunak incredibly aggressive and snarky.
Re: Tory Watch
Admittedly, it’d be very hard to not be snarky at Truss, but bloody hell, he’s really not helping himself there

Re: Tory Watch
The police tell us that they 'police without fear or favour'.
In response to challenging from The Good Law Project they have admitted that they did not question Johnson about his known presence at events for which other attendees were fined.
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/202 ... gatherings
No wonder then that Johnson believes that his actions have or should have consequences when even the police weren't bothered.
Will Cressida Dicks be on his forthcoming long list of people elevated to the House of Lords?

Re: Tory Watch
With regard to tonight's interviews of Truss and Sunak, I only caught the bit when Truss did not answer Sunak's question and just dismissed it as him 'scaremongering'. She sounded like somebody still stuck in the 'Vote Leave' rhetoric of 2016 and somebody who is incapable of taking in the many facts and consequences since. Like a broken record, stuck in the same groove.
She is living in a fantasy world.

Re: Tory Watch
As for Sunak: now trying to tell us that his (and his wife's) obscene wealth is the result of hard work, having started as ordinary people. Yeah, right ....
He is very good at presenting as 'compassionate' until you see evidence of him living in a different world (such as not knowing how to use a petrol pump). Is politics a hobby for him (as he doesn't have to work for a living) to match his ego with his wife's obscene wealth?
He and his family are not committed to residence in the UK. Seems very interested in US private health care .... Doing the final bit of privatising the NHS?
In conclusion: we now see yet another result of Johnson's scheming to get himself into the top job.
He chose Tory candidates for 2019 election from those who were willing to swear allegiance to him and Brexit, regardless! He chose his cabinet based on lack of ability to ensure that 'they would look up to him'.
Despite the vote of no confidence, they didn't oust him even though his actions were way beyond of anything that a decent government and democracy would allow. He should have been kicked out in disgrace, instead of which the current Tory government have left him in charge of this country's business until 5th September, even though parliament isn't sitting. No scrutiny on him at all.
Already there are Tory party members who want Johnson to come back... they clearly don't five a XXXX about honesty, decency, sanity.
I am not religious but 'God help us'.

Re: Tory Watch
Ballot papers go out next week. Unless something mad happens in the next few days, she's nearly got this sewn up, Sunak needs every debate to be a complete landslide given how far behind he is in the polls.
Liz f*cking Truss as PM, leading the 'natural party of government' . Let that one sink in.

So, it's between the really thick, picture opportunist, woman who will do as she's told, or the ultra rich, smiley, tax-dodging one.
I'm sure they have our interests at heart.

Re: Tory Watch
What I find really annoying is the media blanket coverage of this debacle. It is kinda like an endless advertisement for this dodgy crew. It hardly gives a mention for it's raison d'etre , the dodgy dealings of that lying toad Boris. It is all Tory, Tory lies and falsehoods with fake promises. Maybe it is all self damaging, but if you stop and think about all this publicity, for quite a few more weeks it makes your blood boil.

Re: Tory Watch
Liz is a f*cking calamity and I’ll disagree with her on almost everything but I’m pretty sure she got into this for the right reasons.
But why the f*** is Sunak going for this? A multi, multi millionaire, soon to be a multi billionaire when his father in law snuffs it. Why does he want this aggro for a measly £150k -£200k?

...and influence.
Also, Rishi has a combination of "small man" syndrome and, to some extent, has married-up. Being PM gives him a certain status.

Re: Tory Watch
Yep. He’d have the job for 2-3 years and would then be an ex-PM, with the status that confers.
