Re: Hull City highlights
Disappointing to see Marvin carrying on from last season and getting caught on the ball after spending too much time on it. How Sam Ling even gets a game in pre-season is beyond me, awful from those clips. They seemed to keep it down and play it around which is nice, hopefully that carries on and they don't resort to the long ball stuff again.

Not quite sure how you can slate Sam Ling on the basis of these highlights.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 1:37 pm Disappointing to see Marvin carrying on from last season and getting caught on the ball after spending too much time on it. I don't remember Marvin being caught on the ball last season. He did here, yes, but it was potentially a foul and is the second game in preseason. I wouldn't want to discourage him from playing out of the back, after he did so well last season.

You must have missed all the times he tried bringing the ball into midfield with no passing option on then. It happened a lot.

Re: Hull City highlights
Be interested to hear from somewhere there as to whether that was a fair reflection of the game or not. I'm hoping it's just because that's Hulls offering and not an indication of how one sided things were.
Couple of minor points as it's still only a run about at this stage to get match sharpness but -
- They were allowed to pick up second balls and break quickly from midfield in that first half. Lots of runners let go as well. Our defence had no cover.
- Just after their first goal, I LOLed at Jimmy getting knocked off the ball and falling over on his arse by a shoulder barge from someone half his size. How is someone so massive so weak?

It just seems bizarre that you have chosen this set of highlights to slate him- almost like you're waiting for any opportunity.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 2:24 pmNot quite sure how you can't slate him.Red_Army wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 2:03 pmNot quite sure how you can slate Sam Ling on the basis of these highlights.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 1:37 pm Disappointing to see Marvin carrying on from last season and getting caught on the ball after spending too much time on it. I don't think it did. I remember him striding into the opposition half and starting attacks plenty, though.

It's called momentum. If you had been at Harlow you would have seen that he is anything but weak.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 2:58 pm Be interested to hear from somewhere there as to whether that was a fair reflection of the game or not. Re: Hull City highlights
I haven't seen the Harlow highlights. I've quite consistently said how bad a player he is, nothing to do with waiting for an opportunity. He wasn't good enough at NL level and he's not good enough at League 2 level.Red_Army wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 2:59 pmIt just seems bizarre that you have chosen this set of highlights to slate him- almost like you're waiting for any opportunity.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 2:24 pmNot quite sure how you can't slate him.Red_Army wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 2:03 pm

He started off well and bringing it into midfield but from around the middle of the season, he was getting caught out in midfield trying to do too much and he's not quick enough off the mark to get back.

Re: Hull City highlights
Fine I don't think he's that great, but this highlights package seems to be a strange bit of evidence to use to criticise Ling.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 3:14 pmI haven't seen the Harlow highlights. I think we will just have to disagree re. Marvin.

Re: Hull City highlights
Now is not the time to be slsghing off the players. Let them get fit first and up to speed before slaughtering them at least.

Watch it back mate. It's at 3mins 15secs.
Nothing to do with momentum. Both players are running full pelt ish in the same direction towards the ball. Jimmy just doesn't want it.

Re: Hull City highlights
Poor defending, but we won’t face too many teams as good as Hull reserves and trialist in L2 next season so nothing to worry about.
