Hottest day on record in the UK, there's a big world out there where people live in much hotter conditions. I appreciate they are conditioned to it and some have a/c and things like that, but this is just a football match in the evening
This is one of the most irritating ways of engaging with a counterpoint.

“I appreciate they are conditioned to it and some have a/c etc”

Ah good, so you’ll use your appreciation of conditioning, infrastructure, widespread use of air conditioning etc to inform what you go on to say?

“but this is just a football match”

Oh.
The football match is outdoors in the evening. It's not like you're inside without A/C or outside in the midday sun. Fair enough, the bit before is irrelevant.
Right, but it doesn’t matter.

Put together all the pertinent information - rather than reading differing takes with the assumption that just one is right, look for what is plausible from each. From this thread alone that leaves you with:

1: it is just a meaningless friendly
2: there is a government warning against all but essential travel - meaning that cancelling adheres to government recommendations
3: there will be staff who won’t have a choice of whether to travel or not if the game goes ahead
4: the club might make more money through streaming based on GTP’s point
5: on the hottest day on record, in a country without infrastructure for this heat, it might be better to err on the side of caution

Honestly, I’m a little bit amazed that there’s anyone who actually wants to spend the hottest day on record in the UK watching a pre-season friendly

Why not just pop the kick off back to 7.45 - 8 o clock now there's no fans better for the players and probably for the streaming figures.

People on here genuinely conflating health and safety with political correctness.

We've never had these kinds of temperatures before, a lot of the caution taking will be so we can be better informed on our healthcare systems and infrastructure can cope in the future. Rather that than act like it's business as usual and then have everything go wrong all at the same time.

They don't want to go. They're just speaking out against the Nanny State and H&S Gone Mad and protecting your Freedom of Choice.

Cheers. Though I’m waiting for Apple Wumble to quote me and point out that saying “it doesn’t matter” is an example of the toxic discourse on here, and is why he’s now firmly pro the game going ahead…

If I haven't got the game the good lady will want to watch EastEnders, hopefully I might get sorted and won't have to sit through that dross .

Ron - can you not log into an existing account if you have one. No need to create another if you have already

It was my attempt at humour. I’m taking the mickey out of all the daft old sods complaining about being told what to do. These are the same daft old sods that had to be told not to play with matches or climb electricity pylons but that was ok.

Not being allowed in vs Pompey
Made the gammons all go rather stompy
They’d weighed up their lives
Against escaping their wives
And all booked their seats up quite promptly
