I'm sure temperatures will exceed 40C in the next World Cup, so will those games be played behind closed doors?

This nanny state bollocks is just too much
It’s a f*cking friendly, stop being a snowflake baby
As opposed to the snowflakes who decided that fully grown adults can’t make the decision themselves if they want to go out tmw in a 33 degree summer evening or not...
Nobody has said that you cant go out in 33 degrre heat tommorrow evening , why are you lying ?

P.S Qatar has air con

Its not about how hot it is in other places

Our roads are made differently
Same with runways , hence why
Stanstead closed yesterday due to the
Runway tarmac melting

The victoria line had to replace sleepers a few years back because of warping , a couple of years after they had been installed as they hadnt been treated .

This is a moderate temperate climate , so extreme heat
Or extreme cold means infrastructure can be affected .

Also have to look at insurance claims against the O's
If someone dropped dead because of the heat & not enough fluids taken in .
Especially after a weather warning

Football is very different to cricket
Very different, thousands can watch a test match all day in the midday sun tomorrow. But hundreds cant watch a ninety minute football match in the cooler evening.

Lets get real, its nothing to do with the sport, its about profit. No problem with Orient doing what they think is right, but they've put a line in the sand now.

You can sit & laze outside all day taking in fluids eating ice cream having a nice salad having lunch or A delicate cucumber sandwich etc . For Tea

Maybe a Cucumber Sandwich isnt popular in E10

Exactly that. It's just a football match, a meaningless pre-season friendly at that. Why take the risk of having people attend?
I just think people should be able to chose the risks they take and most importantly, own the responsibility for them.

how would you feel if someone died at home in the heat tmw who otherwise would’ve been outside in the shade, in the evening, at the football...??
Id personally feel like warning anyone
to watch it on the laptop outside in the shade outside .
Instead of possibly dying inside in the heat .

Hope that helps

The government advice is to not travel unless absolutely necessary. Personally I think that's been issued to put less strain on the travel and health infrastructure rather than a genuine care about people's well-being. All of the covid advice was very much worded in a way that meant they were happy if we died, but at home, not in hospital taking up resources.

I suspect the club care more about people than this awful government. A football friendly is not absolutely necessary. Considering most of our fans come in to Leyton from further afield...you can see why the club have done this. Of all the things to be upset about. Maybe direct that anger towards unisex toilets...

This is all the Tories fault, if they'd invested in our infrastructure over the last 12 years we could've had our game.

Hottest day on record in the UK, there's a big world out there where people live in much hotter conditions. I appreciate they are conditioned to it and some have a/c and things like that, but this is just a football match in the evening
This is one of the most irritating ways of engaging with a counterpoint.

“I appreciate they are conditioned to it and some have a/c etc”

Ah good, so you’ll use your appreciation of conditioning, infrastructure, widespread use of air conditioning etc to inform what you go on to say?

“but this is just a football match”

I appreciate there is a trade off here, but my point is that the onus should be on the individual. Regarding that specific law, I wouldn't have a problem with it being removed.

The football match is outdoors in the evening. It's not like you're inside without A/C or outside in the midday sun. Fair enough, the bit before is irrelevant.
