Agreed, it's amazing that any sport at all is ever played in Southern Europe, let alone the Middle East and regions near the equator.

So surprising to think we are going to be playing in this heat tomorrow when we have just played two games in the same conditions in Portugal. Mind blowing

Re: Tomorrow's friendly
Its only the hottest day in our history and experts are telling us to stay indoors or we could be seriously ill or die, whats the problem?

The players have just played in similar temperatures in Portugal, so not too bad for them, not sure about Pompey though.
Decent gesture by the club to offer a free stream, which is where I’ll be watching from.

Re: Tomorrow's friendly
Funny how there are people who see heart attacks in crowds over the last couple of years and think “vaccines will kill you”, rather than noting it, then later thinking “hmmmm, I wonder if having crowds packed in stadiums on the hottest ever day in the country is a good idea?”

Global warming is here to stay, for the rest of my lifetime anyway. We need to get used to it and get on with it.

A good point. UEFA rules are if the temperature is a certain level, I think its 31C, additional water breaks must be used.

Re: Tomorrow's friendly
So players can run around okay, but I can't sit quietly in the shaded stand to watch. Lets hope its not hot when the proper season starts. Perhaps the World Cup in Qatar will be behind closed doors.

Re: Tomorrow's friendly
The same way as many who went to work today. I can understand the decision, but as I said global warming is here to stay. It sets a precedence going forwards. Are we setting a maximum temperature for attendances. Warmer countries cope in much higher temperatures, as we will need to going forwards. Not seen beaches closed where people sit in the sun deliberately. People were free to stay at home if they wanted to, no one was being forced to attend.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 4:27 pmHow you getting to the ground?Chelmsford Swimmer wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 4:15 pm So players can run around okay, but I can't sit quietly in the shaded stand to watch. Re: Tomorrow's friendly
Sensible decision, no need to put more strain on public transport etc when the stream is perfectly adequate for a meaningless friendly.

Re: Tomorrow's friendly
I think it’s the right thing to do in the circumstances as this is only a friendly.
Having said that I wonder the decision would have been if it was a league game with 4-5,000 tickets being sold.
