faldO wrote: Fri Jul 15, 2022 11:09 am The last three will be Sunak, Mordaunt and Truss, unless any of them screw up badly in the TV debates. Sunak is pretty much nailed on to make the last two so far as I can see.

At that point, "politics" may come into play by Sunak backers in terms of who supports who, to ensure he faces Truss in the run-off, which will be perceived as the slightly easier route for him to no. 10.

In spite of that, the next leader of the Tories and PM will be a woman.

Nice hair or not, Mordaunt doesn't like Dad's Army or The Dambusters and describes "It Ain't Half Hot Mum" as "a full-house bingo card of… casual racism, homophobia, white privilege, colonialism, transphobia, bullying, misogyny and sexual harassment" and she should be ruled out on that basis.
milf or not, if she hates Dads Army then that is a very bad sign.

Truss will be funny from Scotland.

She can hardly avow that Scottish people can't have another Indy Ref because they might have changed their minds on the subject over the last 8 years, given her record of volte-face moves.

She's also patently hopeless at any form of communication higher than staged photo-ops.

Jokes aside, the whole spectacle of the Tories choosing yet another leader really is depressing but also befitting the current political period. My dosh remains on Posturing Penny (lovely hair though) beating Rancid Rishi as the gammon faced shire dwelling membership won't be able to put him in No 10 when there's a whiter face to vote for. Not that I have any sympathy for that fanny either.

Oh - how we have all fallen and bear the cost of this folly. Not much more than a decade ago, we'd have all pissed ourselves at the thought of this current bunch of no-marks being anywhere near cabinet positions, let alone becoming PM. Comes to something when both Cameron and Osborne look like political giants compared to this bunch of Dummies.

In all fairness, Labour's not exactly in a healthy position either - Starmer & Co are clearly lacking in not only personality but policy as well and I reckon once faced with a freshly charged Tory leader, it'll become abundantly clear that Cardboard Keir isn't a vote winner and he'll be quickly usurped by young Wesley who'll launch a new Blairite centre right era with his flagship policy being something to do with tagging immigrants or burning trade unionists. Something that'll appeal to the red wall voter.

Which, when given the limited choice at the ballot box every 4-5 years will be presented as the more palatable than the Tories continued lurch rightwards to retain power by stoking the culture war fire and leaving the ECHR / drowning refugees.

One day we'll have to explain this era to our grandchildren. I'm just going to pretend I was pissed for 15 years and can't remember any of it.

Leaders debate is good fun

Even if C4 tried to paint a blue haired head teacher as a "potential Conservative voter"

Hence why he'll probably come last

I thought Tugendhat sounded a bit like an actor whos learned his lines, and made sure he said the things he knew people wanted to hear.

I also think Truss is hopeless, but when Kemi gets knocked out, Truss will hoover up all those votes

Its going to be close between Sunak, Mordaunt, & Truss, as to who the final 2 are

Wait, it gets worse
It is understood that he wants to hand peerages to Nigel Adams, a cabinet office minister and one of his closest allies, and culture secretary Nadine Dorries

Yep. Given that she'll have to win over Tory party membership, being perceived as the 'woke' one isn't exactly a vote winner.

Mordaunt is not the right wing media's choice, so they were always going to do a job on her.
They want Truss, so she'll get an easy ride even though she's thick as mince.
As an aside, I am surprised in this digital age, that the right wing press still seems to have a lot of power.
