For the Attention of Martin Ling ( DoF)
Richie Wellens said he wanted the full squad in place, by the time the team went to Portugal
This hasnt happened
Its about time you started doing your job Martin, this isnt the first time a transfer window has gone tits up through your incompetence
You must be the only man in the world who can f*** up so many times, and not get sacked
Even Boris finally 'got sacked'

If we didn't have all our attacking players out with injuries I don't think these threads would be appearing as much. #justsaying

Give him credit, he’s managed to bring in 2 new players. You can’t rush these things.

I disagree . Archibald and Moncur are good players but so far it’s been a disappointing Summer . How on earth can our rivals sign so many players when we seem paralysed in the transfer marketThe Big Shot wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 9:00 am If we didn't have all our attacking players out with injuries I don't think these threads would be appearing as much. #justsaying

Re: For the Attention of Martin Ling ( DoF)
Given the concern amongst fans, as summarised by Qin - someone at the club should at least address the situation in a communication / interview. Otherwise we will jump to the conclusion in the first post...
Must be affecting ST sales...

The initial post is both unfounded and offensive. It is not right to use that kind of personal abuse when you don't have a clue about what goes on behind the scenes at the football club. It is also insulting and disrespectful to the owners.

Re: For the Attention of Martin Ling ( DoF)
We was only ever going to sign at most 5 players with every player who was offered new contracts accepting them, Wellens always said we'd only sign 3 or 4.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 9:11 amI disagree . Most teams rarely if ever complete all their business by the time the first game kicks off.
Most of the teams who've signed lots of players have gone for squad overhauls - Wellens has decided we don't need a squad overhaul.
The people making points about the central midfield and needing another striker are right, we're lacking depth there.
If by the end of the window (and/or the first game) our squad still lacks depth, then fair enough we have problems - Time to moan.
If Smith, Smyth and Drinan had been playing minutes and scoring, there would be less complaining. But I can understand peoples frustration after seeing Wellens interview the other night because ultimately his opinion is the one that matters the most.

Re: For the Attention of Martin Ling ( DoF)
This is so ridiculous. How does anyone know this is down to Ling? It might be the board that are putting the constraints in. The US is going through a massive stock market correction with huge inflation. Maybe they've tightened the purse strings.

FFS get off Lings back he's done really well this summer.Qin wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 8:49 am Richie Wellens said he wanted the full squad in place, by the time the team went to Portugal

We probably need a couple more players and they will come but you seem to be forgetting that he's signed, James 2 year contract, Sotiriou 2 year contract, Thompson 2 year contract, Archibald 2 year contract he could have gone elsewhere, signed Moncur 3 year contract. We are having bad luck with injuries and thats why Wellens is frustrated, who isn't but to pile into Ling is just plain stupid.

Re: For the Attention of Martin Ling ( DoF)
Totally disagree, Richie did state that he wanted all players in place before the Portugal trip.
Looks like Richie is not getting the financial support he was expecting to bring in the players he wants, not the ones that Ling identifies .Ling do your job and stop hampering Richie in doing his job, no sicknotes, no injured players just quality players that are experienced and play in our division or above that Richie identifies only.

Re: For the Attention of Martin Ling ( DoF)
Jessica is right - You have no idea what is going on at the club, you have no evidence to suggest Ling is hampering anyone, he's managed to pursuade every out of contract player we wanted to keep to stay. got Archibald back to the club on a permanent contract and pursuaded George Moncur to drop two divisions to sign for us.PoundhillO wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 10:22 amTotally disagree, Richie did state that he wanted all players in place before the Portugal trip.

Richie said ideally he would have the squad in place bt Portugal, hasn't happened but as long as we are ready to go on the opening day thats really all that matters. Your another one who throws his toys out the pram at slightest set back and given half a chance lay into Ling it's not his fault we have injuries FFS grow-up!

How many clubs in League Two have completed all their transfer business so far?PoundhillO wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 10:22 amTotally disagree, Richie did state that he wanted all players in place before the Portugal trip.

You won't answer, because you just ignore people who try and have a conversation with you. Like a bigshot.

Its been said before that a lot of business isnt done until the end of the window, clubs sometimes wont let players go until they have their own replacements lined up, bit of a chain I guess.

Re: For the Attention of Martin Ling ( DoF)
Ling is still trying to convince us all that we have a large squad because he's "signed" 6 academy players to pad out the numbers.
Wellens made it clear early in his tenure he wanted better strength in depth within the squad. The transfer activity thus far leaves him with even fewer options than before.
On that note Colebrown seem to have both disappeared, no particular mention of them in the injury briefings yet absent without trace for the games thus far.

Re: For the Attention of Martin Ling ( DoF)
The thing is, when you look at all the squads in League Two from last season, all of them are padded with various youngsters and Colebrowns - including Forest Green who went up as champions. Exeter padded their squad with youngsters from their academy and it helped take them up - albeit took them a few years.gshaw wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 10:48 am Ling is still trying to convince us all that we have a large squad because he's "signed" 6 academy players to pad out the numbers.

Its a far more regular thing these days in the lower leagues due to budget contraints/covid etc. Granted yes, we need better and more experience in CM I get that, but youngsters padding the squad as you say is all across the board in League Two.
We aren't any different.

Re: For the Attention of Martin Ling ( DoF)
All of them youngsters from other clubs apart from Cian Harries:
Oscar Massey – Plymouth
Tyrese Shade – Leicester
Sol Brynn – Middlesbrough – Loan
Reece Devine – Man Utd
Cian Harries – Bristol Rovers
Ciaran Brennan – Sheff Wed - Loan
Jacob Wakeling – Leicester
Tom Clayton – Liverpool
Ronan Darcy - Bolton
Which ones would you have taken in our team? Bearing in mind gshaw doesn't like padding the squad with youngsters and Colebrowns?
