Re: The Great Big Leyton Orientear Thread
Message from the editor regarding the next issue of the mag.
Hi All,
We'll be bringing out issue #266 on the first game of the season at home to Cheltenham on August 3rd. This means the deadline for this issue will be July 25th. Obviously we'll be leading with tributes to Justin Edinburgh and we welcome anything you would like to write on the subject. However of course there's an awful lot of football stuff to cover and we'll take anything you want to write about that as well. If you want to write something but aren't sure what or want to talk over a couple of ideas, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Thanks

Hi Ed,
Is this something you will be reminding us of through the season? I'd like to write an article after doing some research first on the subject matter.

Re: The Great Big Leyton Orientear Thread
1. Player of the season
Joe Widdowson - Proved his doubters wrong - solid all season. Looking forward to James Alabi doing the same next season :-)
2. Idiot of the season
Porter obviously. Poisonous little tw*t! If there is a trophy for this, we should get Josh back to present it to him whilst laughing in his face :-)
3. Match of the season
Really enjoyed Bromley at home - cracking atmosphere and some terrific goals. But for sheer excitement and the realisation that we were maybe destined to go up, I have to say Eastleigh at home.
4. Away trip of the season
Harrogate Town - Tidy ground, nice town, friendly people, lovely clubhouse, excellent burgers! Even the paperless ticket system put many Football League clubs to shame. Hope they do well next season.
5. Worst game of the season
Was really looking forward to Bromley away - turned out to be bloody awful in just about every respect.
6. Goal of the season
Josh Koroma v Bromley
7. What are you looking forward to in League 2?
Decent referees - and I never, ever thought I'd say that about League 2 officials!
8. What are you going to miss about the National League?
Quite a lot actually. It was nice going to a few unfamiliar grounds and actually being treated like I was welcome. Glad we're out of it though :-)
9. If it were feasible, would you like to see VAR at Orient games?
I'd have probably said yes before the debacle of the Women's World Cup. now.....No, no, no!!
10. What would you like to see more of in the Orientear?
Maybe some historical stuff but in general, there's a pretty good balance I think.

Re: The Great Big Leyton Orientear Thread
End of Season poll:
1. Player of the season
Plenty of candidates, but for sheer consistency and stunningly implausible improvement, I’ll go for Craig Clay. The heart beat of the side.
2. Idiot of the season
George Porter. Snide little mug who won’t even get in Bromley’s team next year.
3. Match of the season
For agonising, gut-wrenching nerves I’ll go for Solihull away. That performance was 90 minutes of sheer perspiration, tenacity and dedication against the toughest bunch of double-hard bastards in the entire division. We were out on our feet and still cane up with the goods. I’ve seen 20 or so more talented Orient sides, but never one with more will to win. A reflection of the manager, I suspect.
4. Away trip of the season
Didn’t do many, but Braintree was fun. 5 goals and 90% of the crowd at an away game is nothing to be sniffed at.
5. Worst game of the season
Wembley. It always is.
6. Goal of the season
Alex Reid away at Salford. Lovely turn and finish from 18 yards. Sure, it was for Fylde, but it guaranteed us promotion to all intents and purposes.
7. What are you looking forward to in League 2?
The refereeing and football will still be sh*t, but it’ll be nice to have 200+ away fans as the norm rather than the exception.
8. What are you going to miss about the National League?
We didn’t have to go to Scunthorpe in the National League.
9. If it were feasible, would you like to see VAR at Orient games?
Not at all. Goal-line technology is a must, though.
10. What would you like to see more of in the Orientear?
Player interviews. Far too thin on the ground in recent years. Tell Captain Scarlet and Kid Sampson to get their arses back in gear.
