Whenever the transfer window closes, at that point you can't do anything about it until January

Re: When's the time to panic
Your friend should get a grip and stop panicking about a 4th division football team.

Re: When's the time to panic
Well with only three weeks to go before the start of the new season we're still hardly any stronger than last season . IMO. we still need about another two or three new players . The last time we took our time signing new players we ended up with Gorman and Alabi so waiting this long doesn't always pay off .

Those two players hardly contributed to it .We won the league because we had Bonne and Korma up front and Clay was carrying out midfield virtually single handedly .

Re: When's the time to panic
an average squad, with many players who are injury prone not tough enough and go sick for weeks on end
No signings to get excited about, its same on same
compared with other teams its a bit disappointing
Mid to lower table in the 4th division, and probably out of all cups in the early stages
same old spin from the machine, no need to panic cos there's nothing to get panicked about, just the same old, same old , same old !!

Re: When's the time to panic
When you look at a club like Bradford they knew who they wanted and went out and got them , no arsing around . Will any new signings we make be any better than theirs simply because we held back . ?KC & sunshine band wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 7:55 pm an average squad, with many players who are injury prone not tough enough and go sick for weeks on end

Pratley - strong but old, still doubt how many games he'll manage
Clay - mediocre and recovering from serious injury
Brown - poor
Coleman - poor
I was no fan of his and not upset to see him go but we haven't replaced Kyprianou. If one of Colebrown ends up filling that spot it becomes even weaker than last season.
Plus when we ran out of midfield options due to messing up the Adams signing McAnuff dug us out of a hole by moving into CM and pushing himself above and beyond to get us over the line.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 2:47 pmThose two players hardly contributed to it .We won the league because we had Bonne and Korma up front and Clay was carrying out midfield virtually single handedly .

I reckon they have nightmares about players getting injured during sleep as well .

Re: When's the time to panic
Bradford City changed half their team last year and finished below us. None of the teams promoted last year made mass change. We made mass change going into the National League and struggled. Got a decent manager, and finished the season well. Didn't make significant change, kept the team that finished well and got promoted. I see a parallel now. Not saying a couple of new players won't help, But a good manager, continuity, and team spirit goes a long way,RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 8:24 pm

Fair point Swimmer but we still need about two or three new signings .Chelmsford Swimmer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 11:51 pmBradford City changed half their team last year and finished below us. There's no need to panic but as it stands, we'll have another mediocre season

Perfect assessment of both the current and previous midfields.gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 8:47 pmMoncur - strongLoyal_Supporter wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 7:41 pmVery weak midfield? Really? Not the strongest but still not bad.

The only other player to include is Smyth who could play the CAM role again this season. Obviously expect Moncur to start most games there and Smyth out on the wing, but Moncur won’t play 46 games. We have no other creativity in midfield so will have to be Smyth filling in. Obviously counts as ‘strong’ as well, when not injured….
We still need a first choice CDM to start ahead of Coleman and Brown.

Re: When's the time to panic
I think the current squad is about good enough for a 10th place finish. If we get lucky with injuries and RW can get the best out of them then we could sneak 3rd. I think we need a couple more quality first team players to bridge that gap.

Re: When's the time to panic
I still say the CDM role is the only one we’re missing a first choice. I’m happy with the other 10. It’s just a lack of options and depth thereafter, not even just to cover injuries and suspensions but to make productive changes in games.
