Everything Everywhere All At One
Lots going on and confusing for a while, but stick with it because for me it turned into one of the most emotional films I've watched in a long time. Absolutely brilliant film.

Re: What are you Watching Today Part 2
Just a heads up to let youse know that a brand new series of "Snecks in the City" starts on Discovery Wild on 1 June. Set you video recorders.
The trailer says that there are a couple of trainees in the new show. To my mind that improves the odds of somebody getting bit up by a sneck.
That is good news in my book as it increases the drama and entertainment levels. Hats off to the Director on this one.

Re: What are you Watching Today Part 2
Agreed - could have made the whole thing in about 20 minutes - just endlessly repeating the same basic discovery for each kid. I watched til the end in case there proved to be some sort of armed standoff or something. Very dull.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 11:28 am The Father- some Netflix doc about a fertility doctor who used his own sauce on patients, has quite a few children now. boring/10

All of Us Are Dead. A Korean teenage zombie series. Only watched the first episode but it looks like it may be alright.

The BBC comedy about the family with the dad who was an Olympic archer. It's brilliant.

There's no way a tv production would get access to cctv and things like anpr systems etc and the contestants have a crew to drag around with them everywhere so cant really hide.

Went to watch a screening of Robocop yesterday at Picturehouse Central. It's the newly restored 4K, director's cut edition. It's up there with the likes of Predator in terms of movie perfection, and the cinema is possibly the best in London too. I managed to get into the members bar and had a good few drinks on someone's expense account. Lovely stuff.

Jimmy Savile documentary (Netflix) - I love a doc with archive footage and this was an interesting watch. Although it was awful to hear it could've done with another episode to cover his extensive abuse and the failures that enabled him.

The Worst Person In The World, watched it twice now, best film of the year so far. Having a similar experience to the wedding scene part may have influenced me. Saying that, so well acted and shot and so much to rediscover, must give it a third watch.

Top Gun Maverick.
Good old fashioned cliche full blast.
Absolutely marvellous entertainment and I'm a cynic art house movie snob.
God Tom is gorgeous.

Mrs Gold and I went to see "The Road Dance" at the pictures when we were on holiday. It cannot be beaten for bleakness. Recommended.
One reviewer was moved to write:
"It’s a difficult watch, mostly because the film skips from grey and dour, to heart-wrenchingly desolate. You won’t get much of a sense of Scots humor or community in The Road Dance. Here, life is hard ........"

Anyone watched s4 of Stranger Things yet? I'm flying back from Italy to Pleb-land tomorrow and need to know if episode 1 is worth downloading for the flight.

Re: What are you Watching Today Part 2
Stranger Things - anyone claiming that this is good telly shod go back and compare S4 to S1. It's shockingly bad. And all the attempts to hide behind nostalgia cannot cover them terrible script writing, plot devices and characterisation.

Re: What are you Watching Today Part 2
Been rewatching from Series 1 and last night I remembered why I gave up halfway through Series 2 a few years ago. Think I will do the same again and just put Hounds of Love on instead.
In other news I have a box set of Early Doors and I think it's the best thing I've ever seen, apart from Paddington 2 and Mtach of the Day.
Still ploughing through My Brilliant Friend, its incredible.
