Re: Khan joins Grimsby
Could see one of Coleman or Brown being an ok squad option. They were brought into a squad in awful form with a manager mentally checked out, a full pre season and better atmosphere might make all the difference. If Moncur is one of the two main central midfielders, it'll be Pratley/Clay as the partner anyway which is fine imo.
At this point more concerned about attacking depth. If one of that starting front 3/4 gets injured, there's not much to come in.

I'd be concerned about relying on Clay. Another year older recovering from a serious injury. We need players pushing each other for a spot in the first XI, not fillers that weaken the side if they have to start.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 9:15 pm Could see one of Coleman or Brown being an ok squad option. I know that he had his loyal supporters, but I have never been convinced by Clay. I know he runs around a lot, but he is not consistently formidable.

Not sure I ever saw Maguire-Drew work his bits off, if he did he would be playing higher up the league.

Technically proficient and skilful but I never saw him beat a player for pace and he didn’t really take players on. Can see why Richie didn’t play him and moved him on.

I wonder if he isn't the great in the dressing room, maybe but not a bad egg but to go through ten teams already is going some, considering he isn't exactly a bad player either.

What position are we replacing? He does all the sh*t to cover for other players. He’s good positionally and can pass a ball. He isn’t a world beater but he’s an important player to have in the squad at this level.Give it to Jabo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 9:24 pm I know that he had his loyal supporters, but I have never been convinced by Clay. Re: Khan joins Grimsby
I'm one of Craig's supporters . He held our midfield together during our promotion winning season and was playing arguably the best football of his career with us until he got his injury . The question is how is he going to recover . For that reason plus losing Khan I would definitely bring in another midfield player . I'd also like to see us bring in another striker .Give it to Jabo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 9:24 pm I know that he had his loyal supporters, but I have never been convinced by Clay. Re: Khan joins Grimsby
Point taken , that's a good question . Although Otis Khan is a good player he couldn't seem to nail down any one particular position . Personally though I would bring in another midfielder to replace Khan.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 10:39 pmWhat position are we replacing? Maybe that was Moncur. Seems like they’re getting stuff done, so we’lo see over the next few weeksRedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 12:25 amPoint taken , that's a good question . I agree with you gshaw. I've always liked Craig but how well will he recover from his injury . IMO, we definitely need two more central midfielders . Oh and like I said before , another striker .gshaw wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 9:17 pmI'd be concerned about relying on Clay. Another year older recovering from a serious injury. I think Richie had too because of injuries to other players and Moss wasn't good enough for League 2. That's why Moss is now at Woking .Currywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 10:57 am He also said he's not a wing back then played him at wing back

I heard it mentioned in the post-match interview after the Haringey gameGary the Plumber wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 11:44 amWhen did he say that?essexfootball wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 10:53 am From the Wellens interview he basically said no one know where he plays or what he position he is

Re: Khan joins Grimsby
Also said Khan wanted to be guaranteed first team football and that wouldn't be the case at Orient. Given Moncur's arrival rightly so.

Re: Khan joins Grimsby
Wouldn't have minded keeping him as a squad player, but if we got a fee that's good business, and I think he is eminently replaceable.
